The offgassing smell is a bit harsh. Apparently memory foam does this. It expanded to about 7" in height in most areas. It's comfortable but my previous one was 100% cotton and didn't have the scent. It is adequate for the price. Follow up. I've had it now for almost a month and the smells that emanate from it are off-putting. Laying down on it you'll get wafts of chemical type smells and it's not relaxing. It was less than 200 bucks so I guess I can't be too upset but...yeah the smell is unpleasant. ... show more

Oh I am so unhappy with this futon that I’m probably going to throw it away and I just bought it in December. It is only 1 inch where I’ve been sitting and maybe an inch and a half to 2 inches on the corners. I don’t know what’s in this but it’s not anything that you would want to sleep on I can feel the wooden frame of my futon on my back and now my hips both hurt me every day. I would not suggest buying this cheaply made product! If I could get a refund I would but my son was out of town and i couldn’t take it off myself due to a hurt shoulder. It would’ve been OK if it was at least five or even 4 inches thick. It went down after time which was just two months Oh I am so unhappy with this futon that I’m probably going to throw it away and I just bought it in December. This was a replacement mattress for my old futon mattress. It's nice altho it's not as thick as advertised. It's good for the price but next time I will but a thicker one to eliminate the feel of the frame underneath.
