The Tru-Fire Hardcore Buckle Foldback MAX provides archers with complete customization being able to adjust trigger tension from 3 oz all the way to 16 oz depending on your liking. The upgrades do not end there on this release, for comfort, there is now a an adjustable strap the is not only wider, but much thicker than before. This release is phenomenal. I received it earlier this week, and the more I use and toy with it the more I enjoy and appreciate it. There are certain characteristics which are easily noted. Among these are the thick and unusually comfortable wrist strap and the very simple and effective fold-back feature. Additionally, the release strap never needs be fully unbuckled; the TruFire arrowhead at the end serves as a stop so that the strap can be more easily put on and taken off. Beyond these obvious features are others which show great thoughtfulness of design and are related to the length of draw and trigger quality. The draw length is adjusted via the vase-shaped piece at the base of the release. It screws up and down and the range of movement is long enough that it can be adjusted from too-short for me to use to too-long. The particularly nice thing about the design is that this length adjustment is distinct from the head's movement. On some releases that is not the case, and the adjustments must be made in full rotations of the head to assure that it is properly aligned with your trigger finger. Here, the adjustment is completely separate from the head's position, and thus infinite adjustment is possible. Finally, the trigger quality is great. Although I am unaware of the mechanism's particulars, it must be sear-style. The trigger weight and sear engagement, or take up, are both separately adjustable. My other release is a Scott Wolf with a roller bearing mechanism. It's a nice release, but if you're a trigger freak like I am (coming from rifle and pistol shooting), there is no comparison between the two. Although I shoot my version of back-tension with the trigger in my first joint, the crisp release is still very helpful in making accurate shots. If you do purchase this and adjust the sear engagement, assure that there is sufficient contact to prevent an unintended release. Finally, the price here is about $30 cheaper than elsewhere. Very much better than the $20 release that I used for years. My only complaint is the strap. Perhaps I have particularly small wrists, but for a man of 6" tall, I'm surprised that I have to use the very last hole in the strap to secure the release.

When I upgraded bows from a 2012 PSE Brute X to a 2019 Obsession FXL, I knew it was time to upgrade from my ancient, Cobra release as well. I went with the Tru-Fire Hardcore Max because 1) I wanted to move away from a caliper style release and 2) I really liked the idea of having the ability to change trigger tension and break points. Little did I know how much a lighter trigger would improve my shooting. I made the trigger as light as it will go, and now, I get a surprise release every time. Also, the fold-back design is a great feature that allows me to strap on the release before walking in to and climb my stand without dinging the release on anything. Really I'm giving it the extra star cus I can't make it a half start just because the Lil adjustment screws are not exactly 1/16 allen. Past that this thing is amazing! Groupings improovement was incredible. After shooting 6 test shots I could see that my caliper release had me torquing the bow to the left when I shot. Once I readjusted my body and stopped anticipating the shot, this release was having me stack arrows at 40 yards. The strap is so comfortable. Tiny but stiff but it's made of leather and really nice phux sweade. Little bit of massaging of the stap makes it nice and comfy. This release is listed online for still around 170-200 dollars depending on the site. So happy I was able to find it for less then 75 dollars. Amazing buy. Any new developments and I'll let everyone know! Update!* after a month I have now bought 2 others for friends after they tried it out. Best and most affordable way to get this release is thought amazon. Only way you'll be dissapointed is by NOT buying one. ... show more
