These outlet extenders are pretty great for tight places where you need an outlet on a different orientation than just straight out the wall. Think like behind a couch or cabinet or something that you typically place against a wall, but can’t afford to keep it a foot off the wall because you need to plug it in. These are the perfect use for that. There are outlets on every side and in opposite orientation which I thought was a nice attention to detail since sometimes you need the plug to go a certain way. And to top it off, the actual plug on this device also rotates 360 degrees so that you can orientate the entire thing to the exact way you need it. There is a small LED on the front to let you know it’s working, but it’s not too bright from what I can tell so it hopefully won’t be too bright in a dark room. Another thing to note, as is described in the specs, this does not offer any surge protection so don’t expect anything plugged into this to be protected any more than your standard outlet is. The only gripe I have with this is even though the plug is rotatable, it’s pretty darn near impossible to rotate it by hand. I tried and tried, to the point where I thought I was going to break the thing and still couldn’t get it to actually rotate. I could feel it wiggling a little, so it seemed like it would rotate with enough force. I plugged it in and then attempted to rotate it, but even then I wasn’t comfortable with the amount of force I was having to place on it while being plugged in to get it to rotate. That’s a lot of force on the outlet, so I would not recommend this method. I WAS able to finally get it to rotate, but only by using a pair on channel locks to get the darn thing to move. So I can confirm it does rotate, but you should make sure you have it set in the orientation you want unless you plan to bring a pair of pliers with you in case you need to rotate it. ... show more

In older homes such as ours, it seems you never have enough electrical outlets. In today's world, it seems everything requires chargers or power transformers. Fortunately, most of these devices take very little power, but the chargers and transformers themselves are often bulky and hog space at the outlet. This outlet extender offers convenient power for several devices. Its rotation capability give it considerable flexibility of location although it wasn't immediately obvious where it turned. The description suggests it would be useful on a cruise ship, although I believe some cruise ship outlets may be slightly recessed, which could be a challenge for this extender because of its shape. For travel use, you might want to consider a universal power adapter with USB and USB-C outlets as an option. ... show more

    • good compact way to get more useful plugs in a cruise ship cabin

I love cruising, but I bring a lot of stuff that needs charging, so I always bring extra outlet multipliers. My previous one was a Belkin surge suppressor multi outlet. Then, I find out that surge suppressors are bad for this, as they cause fires by defeating the circuitry in the cabin plug, so the Belkin got retired and needed a replacement. This little unit has no surge suppressor, so it meets cruise ship code. It is very compact, about 1/2 the size of the Belkin it replaced, and has 6 outlets instead of the 3 the Belkin had. Nice. The plug itself bulges out just a bit (1/4"), which is good, as the cabin sockets tend to be slightly recessed, so this pushes the extended outlets to where I can use them. This unit also rotates, so you can position it any way you need it to be. At $12, this is the cheapest solution I have used so far for the cruise ship cabin, and probably the best, so I do recommend it. ... show more

I had been looking for a multi-plug outlet for awhile, so I was very happy when I found this little guy! I had been plugging and unplugging cords into my two-outlet receptacle under my desk, depending on which one I needed at the time. This is the perfect solution to my situation. It comes with a booklet with a lot of good information in it on where you can use it and where not to use it (and when it comes to electricity, that's pretty important). The one thing the book didn't tell me was that in order to rotate the plug, it must first be plugged in. Good to know. I don't know how to price outlet extenders, but I do know that I would buy this again at this price, so it's a good value. I recommend it! ... show more

This doesn't take up much room. The swivel makes it more versatile. However, I do have to note that on a two plug outlet you can either use both plugs and five of the extender outlets or you can use all six of the extender outlets, but then there isn't room to use the other outlet plug.
