The outlet extender is used to go behind the night stands in the bedroom. It protrudes about 1 1/2 inches from the wall. This is a great outlet converter and multiplier. It allows you to plug 3 plugs with 3 prongs into one outlet It is rated to handle up to 15 Amps, which is the maximum of most home circuits. The device is solid, small, and attractive. I have been using one for a few months, and have had no problems whatsoever. Simply plug your devices into it, and forget it is even there. The device has one outlet on the top and two on the sides. In most cases, this will allow you to use all three outlets at once. In the picture I have included, I can only access two because of the lack of space on my surge protector. It will also be a problem if you are plugging it in to the wall close to the ground and the prongs need to be placed one on top of the other. In this case, one of the device's outlets will be facing the ground. In any situation, you will have at least two outlets on the device accessible. This device is definitely a step up from similar devices. It has a more modern look and construction, and is built to handle more of a beating (dropping, throwing etc).
