Our solid pine construction and use of the finest materials means this shelter will endure years of use with very little maintenance. Benefits include a draft resistant tongue-and-groove exterior that is finished out with a weatherproof sealer both inside and out. The A-frame style roof is covered with durable composite shingles. The adjustable, extra-high plastic-tipped feet allow you to level the house on uneven ground and also provide extra circulation underneath. This will help keep the floor cool in the summer and warm/dry in the winter. Trixie has also provided a removable floor for easy cleaning, a unique feature not found in many other dog houses. This shelter is suitable for medium size dogs weighing up to 45 lbs. (ex: Border Collie). Compatible with TRIXIE’s plastic dog door (Item 39591) which is sold separately. Quick and easy assembly. As some others have mentioned, the handling during shipping seems to be the biggest toss up. You can get a few pieces broken or entire panels destroyed. My experience was a bit better than some other but not perfect. The top wooden piece that goes on the roof was cracked, however it was salvageable so I fixed the crack with clear window silicone. Assembly: Too easy. This thing came in a about 6 pieces and just required a few screws and a couple of bolts that were provided. Modification: I ended up taking apart the front as shown in the picture and removing 4 or 5 slats from each side of the door. I also had to cut the door trim high enough so that the top of the automower could clear the door. Additionally, I took the cross member that normally goes on the bottom and moved it to the top of the opening to provide extra support. I also did not use the floor and just put it aside. It was very easy to modify this and I high suggest using this as a mower shed. As a bonus I bought the vinyl flaps and installed them to the front of the door to provide just a little bit more protection from the elements. ... show more

I really love this dog house! I love the look of it, and also how easy it was to put together! It only took me about 15 minutes by myself. Only 4 stars because when I first received the package several of the wood pieces were broken. But it was a fairly simple process to exchange for another one.

This is our second Trixie dog house. The first one is probably 12 years old and is still very useable, just looking worn from Colorado winter and sun. We purchased the same model and everything looked fine except the top piece of trim arrived broken. I emailed customer support on a Wednesday and the replacement arrived the following Sunday.
