Features

  • SUPERIOR BLEND OF LINSEED OIL & BEESWAX: Tried and True wood finish is a superior blend of linseed oil and beeswax. This time-tested combination of oil and wax provides a warm soft appearance and adds protection against water, liquids and daily use.
  • EFFICIENT CURING: This linseed oil for wood is polymerized for fast curing without the use of toxic drying aids found in boiled linseed products. No solvents means a little bit goes a long way. Safe to apply indoors with no PPE.
  • LONG-LASTING DURABILITY: Tried & Trues original oil finish provides long-lasting durability and the ability to touch-up or repair the finish without needing to strip or sand the wood. This makes a potential heirloom to pass down for generations.
  • SAFE & NON-TOXIC: This wood finish is ideal for many projects including food contact applications like cutting boards, knife handles, butcher block and wood cabinetry. It is also safe as a wooden toy finish and pet items.
  • EASY APPLICATION: Sand the piece up to at least 320, wipe it on, buff it dry, wait a day, burnish with 4/0 steel or synthetic wool, repeat as desired. See videos and product label for in-depth application instructions.

Features

  • The Original Wood Finish provides a soft, warm, glowing finish and unparalled grain enhancement without masking the beauty or texture like a film finish would.
  • Made from 100% Renewable, natural, food & skin contact safe ingredients. Just linseed oil & beeswax. No need for PPE or ventilation while using. Petrochemical Free, Heavy Metal Free.
  • Beeswax is the best moisture barrier that nature has to offer so this is ideal for food contact applications, baby products, or pet's toys. It can also be used as a sealant over milk paint, penetrating oil-based stains, other natural oil finishes.
  • Excellent finish for cabinetry, butcher block, furniture, tool handles, raised garden beds, wooden doors and trim, friction polishing turned pieces and any other application where linseed oil and beeswax would have been traditionally used.
  • Tried & True products have infinite repairability and will last longer than a lifetime when properly maintained. No yellow plastic flakes as they age! These are 100% solids (no fillers, no solvents) so a little bit goes a very long way.

Description

Tried & True was first conceived around 1990 when a master cabinet maker in upstate New York became concerned over the amount of toxins that he was exposed to on a daily basis and thought, "How did people create pieces that last hundreds of years in a time when todays solvents and chemicals were unknown?" This question led to years of research centered around Shaker and early American woodworking and finishing, resulting in a line of products based on natural linseed (flax) oil and additives (beeswax, pine resin) that would have been available on an early American frontier with no modern processing. Every Tried & True product is made from 100% renewable ingredients and free from all solvents, has 0 VOCs, no synthetic compounds, no toxic heavy metal drying agents or anything else that could be harmful to humans, pets or planet.

  • Extrememly quality product
Size: 8oz
This is astonishingly better than mineral oil. I like the appearance. It was easy to apply with lint free cloth I did 2 applications. The first one one side let it sit for an hour wipe off the excess then let dry for 24 hours. flip and do the other side. then repeat. I did not do the light 00 steel wool to polish it because it is a cutting board. There is no smell and the quality is amazing. the coverage is great with 2 coats completed I barely used 1/10 of the bottle. The product goes a long way and will be able to to use the product for a long time. I really like the finished look on my hand made high end cutting board. ... show more

  • Works great, best stuff I’ve used.
Size: Pint
If you want to just enhance the look and slightly darken the wood, this is the best. Protects furniture, looks great and easy to apply. The linseed oil and beeswax combo is awesome.

  • My Favorite Wood Finish So Far
Size: 8oz
I really loved this product. It’s very easy to work with, has absolutely no smell, which is important to me since my studio is inside my home, and it gives wood a very natural, beautiful shine and finish. I tested it both on smooth wood surfaces and on natural tree bark with texture, and it worked great on both. The only downside is that it takes a little while to fully cure. If you’re patient, this product is definitely worth it. ... show more

  • The only finish I use! (Read on)
Size: 8oz
If Ron Swanson were a real person, he would use this wood finish. Quick review: 5/5. Details: I rarely leave reviews for items, however this finish is exceptional in many ways. I appreciate that the smell is both pleasant and not overwhelming. The fact that it is a natural product and is non-toxic is a major benefit. I am a simple, amateur engraver, but I exclusively use this finish for my products due to its high quality (quick and efficient absorption/natural boost to vibrance and saturation color), environmental considerations, and ease of use. There are few things as enjoyable as being able to feel the wood while crafting, without worrying about wearing expensive and bulky PPE or complicated ventilation setups. When I give gifts to friends and family who are parents of young children or own pets, I want to ensure the gifts are safe in case they are misplaced and then chewed on by the small animals. The same safety goes for my household. This is a major reason why I solely use this product. Please see the results of this product in my photos. Note that the user is an amateur and performed the maintenance humbly and without consulting specific guidebooks. Always follow applicable safety rules and regulations. ... show more

  • Not perfect but my favorite wood finish so far
Size: 8oz
Pros; it Leaves a really nice shine, makes colors pop, it’s waterproof(once dry), it doesn’t crust unlike some other finishes, and the price is pretty good for what it is, also doesn’t leave nearly as bad of a smell as most other finishes after it’s dried Cons; it takes FOREVER to dry, wiping off the excess with a paper towel or something is a necessity, also while it makes some colors pop more, if there’s similar colors(I wood burned a coaster so it was dark brown on light brown) the details become really hard to make out ... show more

  • Wood is better than new!
Size: 8oz
This is my first time using this product and wow! I used it on 2 vintage items. One is a wood table very worn with some gross spots. After using this product my table is shiny gorgeous and like new. Please see pictures!! I also used it on an old clock I have and it cleaned up left over dust from other wood shine products and left this clock shiny and like new. I feel like my furniture has new life! Please also see the pictures of my clock! I will say the product comes on thick and sticky. As you work it in the wood and into the grooves it has a thin oily feel. The instructions say to wait 24 hours let everything set into the wood. I personally give it 2 days and then it's show room ready!! I definitely recommend this product! ... show more

  • Great for furniture
Size: Pint
This is a very easy to apply and beautiful wood finish. I really like the fact that it is safe and does not contain any harsh chemical fumes. It actually has kind of a pleasant smell and allows you to apply it with little to no ventilation. It is a thick finish almost like a thin honey and leaves your project looking and feeling like real wood. I really dislike plastic looking furniture and hate wearing gloves and respirators when dealing with all these commercial toxic finishes. This solves both of those problems for me and I highly recommend this product. If you have some patience and are not afraid to put some effort, this is an outstanding finish. As far a application it is very simple. You just need to apply it so you get good even coverage, let it penetrate for at least an hour, then wipe off any excess. When I apply it I find that as long as you don't have any very obviously wet spots when your done, It cures just fine within 24 hours. The trick is to make sure to have an even coat across your entire piece . If you find that the wood is not taking up the finish as easily as it should on the first coat then use more finish on your rag. I have also had good luck applying it then hitting the top with a heat gun to help the finish penetrate on the first coat. Obviously do not get the wood hot but it is just fine to keep the heat gun moving and get the finish a little warm to help it thin out. Here are a few pictures of pieces that I have finished with this. The coffee table is hickory and the desk is oak. The hickory table only has the first coat on it and was still wet but the oak desk has two coats and is completely cured. Hopefully this review was helpful and answered some of the concerns that I had when I was looking at trying this product. ... show more

  • Good stuff
Size: 8oz
I've used this on a variety of home projects, ranging from home-made phone stands to kitchen utensils to a toy car I built for my son. I probably won't buy any other brand of linseed/beeswax in the future because I like this one so much. Good quality, applies evenly, and works in a variety of applications. Provides excellent sealing. ... show more
