  • Excellent speaker... A worthy upgrade of the well-reviewed Stormbox Micro 2.
Color: Black
I have been a happy owner of the Tribit Stormbox Micro 2 for a couple of years. I own two and frequently listen to them in TWS stereo mode. I was fortunate enough to beta test the Stormbox 3 and have been using it for the past 3 months. It is an amazing speaker. To be direct, you don't buy speakers of this size for audiophile sound quality. What really sells these micro speakers is their utility, robustness, and portability. The killer feature of the Tribit SB Micro 3, in my opinion, is its magnetic base. There are two magnets on the bottom which elevates the speaker about a quarter of an inch. these magnets are fairly strong, and it surprised me how useful having a magnetic base is. You can stick it on your car, on the side of the refrigerator, on a locker, on basically any surface that will interact with magnets. And because of the rubber feet, it tends to stay put... even while vertical. Now, of course the sound is solid and great. I find that it's slightly more Bassy than the SB Micro 2. There is a good amount of digital signal processing going on. I found on some tracks that listening above 66% volume tended to cut down on the response on some tracks in order to avoid distortion. So if you want quality and faithful reproduction for your music, don't listen above 66% volume. If you want just loudness, or are listening to a podcast, higher volumes are great. The Micro 3 is compatible with Tribit's app. You can modify equalizer settings, customize idle off times, update firmware, etc. Perfectly serviceable and covers the basics. There is a rubber plug that covers USB-C charging port to help with water resistance. I accidentally dropped the Micro 3 once from around 4 feet onto a hard laminate floor with no seeming issues. The rubber strap is improved over the SB Micro 2. It seems more versatile and should mount on handlebars, a branch, fence, etc just fine. Is it telling that I'm buying another for True Wireless Stereo? It should. I just wish they had colors other than black (so I can know which is right and left (white and blue colors are coming soon). EDIT : TWS with the Micro 3 is amazing. Do yourself a favor : buy 2, lay in bed, and set them on either side of your head about a foot away (make sure the volume is down first do you don't blow your ears out). The sound is excellent... And you can feel the bass rumble through the mattress. ... show more

  • Impressed with Tribit StormBox Micro 3
Color: Black
I bought two of the Tribit StormBox Micro 3 speakers for use around the house. For context, I haven't owned speakers from Tribit before and I have been pretty impressed with my experience. For starters, the minor details such as the magnetic attachment, dedicated TWS (stereo pairing) button, etc add up to a good experience. The magnetic attachment itself makes it very versatile to put the speakers at the right height - when I placed the speakers at the opposite ends of the room, I got a very wide soundstage that sounds incredible. In general connectivity with my iPhone 17 seemed very reliable (probably because both have Bluetooth 6.0) - in fact the latest bluetooth version was the main reason I bought this (the only other option was the Soundcore Boom Go 3i). As for sound quality - a single speaker sounds just fine (I liked the Popular EQ preset over the Tribit signature default one). But the real magic was when they were paired in Stereo mode and placed quite far apart - it really punches above its weight in this format. ... show more

  • Rugged & boomy
Color: Black
This is my 4th Tribit speaker, so I'm obviously a fan of this brand. I'm not a biker, so I can't speak to the specific use for which the StormBox Micro 3 is designed: it's waterproof, dust proof, and shock resistant within reason (the instructions say *not* to attach it to high-vibration equipment such as moving vehicles). What struck me when I took it out of its box was how heavy it was compared to my Tribit PocketGo speaker, like picking up a chunk of lead. Some of that heft must be due to its quick-charging, impressively long-lasting battery; I'm assuming its rugged housing and boomy 13-watt sound production account for the rest. The StormBox Micro 3 paired more slowly than both my PocketGo and my XSoundGo (perhaps because the devices I was pairing it with use older versions of Bluetooth?). This speaker is by far the most powerful, generating much more vibration than the XSoundGo even with its bass booster turned on. In terms of sound quality, I tested the StormBox against the stereo XSoundGo--my primary speaker around the house--on South Asian tabla (hand drum) music, a male voice with acoustic-guitar backing, rock music with vocals, Bach's Brandenburg Concertos played on original instruments, a few different podcasts, and a female narrator reading an audiobook. My conclusion was that the StormBox in bass mode was fabulous for the tabla music and darn good for a small mono speaker for other kinds of music as well as for spoken word, although not quite as clearly articulated as the XSoundGo. I'm using the StormBox every morning as my dedicated tabla-raga player while I do my light therapies. Its magnetic back is great for getting the sound up at ear level and out of the way, and the booming bass has added a welcome new dimension to my sessions. The strap on the back isn't useful for me because it's too small to fit over anything except for a couple pens or a slim bike frame. The other element that doesn't work for me is the microscopic manual whose type I have to use a magnifying glass to read; to make matters worse, the section headings are printed in yellow on pale gray paper and are all but unreadable in any light--whose brilliant idea of good graphic design was THAT?! ... show more
