Description

What are the precautions when charging? When charging, please keep the charging port and charging cable completely dry. Why don’t I notice any change in sound quality when turning the XBass 2.0 knob? 1. The XBass 2.0 knob only adjusts bass. If the song has little bass, the change will be less noticeable. 2. Each step only affects 1.25dB of bass. We suggest turning the knob several steps to hear the difference more clearly. How long does it take to charge Max? It takes around 4 hours to charge with a certified 5V/3A (15W) wall charger. Note:If the charger's power output is lower than 5V/3A, charging time will be longer. What’s the difference between TWS(Stereo) and Auracast? In Stereo Mode, two speakers split the audio, with one playing the left channel and the other the right. In Auracast mode, each speaker plays the same audio to expand the sound field. Up to 100+ speakers can be connected together in Auracast mode. How to switch between TWS(Stereo) and Auracast? single‑press for TWS (white light), double‑press for Auracast (blue light). Note: To switch modes, first press and hold the TWS button for 2 seconds to exit the current mode, then select the other mode. Impressive!
This speaker brings surprising bass in a small package. The bass is definitely the main attraction here, with a dial on top of the speaker exclusively for adjusting bass levels. The speaker is around the size of a 32oz water bottle. The sound is nicely tuned straight out of the box for an easy listen. The XBass dial is definitely a gimmicky feature that you'll play with once or twice and then it'll sit where you prefer. Should the dial at its maximum not be enough bass for you, the app allows you to crank it even higher with a custom EQ. The speaker maintains a slightly bass-forward sound by default, but turning the dial down some definitely smooths it out. The sound remains fairly distortion free even with the bass pushed hard. It gets pretty dang loud as well. Overall, it's a fun and easy speaker to listen to. It looks nice and the build quality is more premium than I expected. The sound disperses evenly in every direction. If you're looking for a solid speaker in this price range, especially one thats not particularly large, this is your guy. I highly recommend. ... show more

Tribit's masterpiece bazooka speakers will awe you!
Tribit brings back the latest iteration of the StormBox Pro as the StormBox Max. Yes! (Fist pump!) This time, this bazooka speaker brings some extra muscle and extra-riveting bass! I love the 360-degree sound, the bass knob (although I wonder how it will fare in a fall), the multidevice Bluetooth connection and the 3.5-millimeter audio jack! Bravo all around! Compare this with Bose's 360-degree speaker and Ultimate Ears' Megaboom 4, and you'll see that Tribit's StormBox Max is superior! Bravo, Tribit, bravo! Long live the StormBox lineup! 🔊 ... show more

One of the better sounding speakers of this size and price
Over the past couple of years I have listened to, evaluated, and reviewed hundreds of Bluetooth speakers. I purchased a lot of them, some well over $500 with my own money. I'm pretty familiar with the industry. I like Tribit products a lot, and I usually grab the Tribit Stormbox Blast as my go to outdoor speaker. I feel that Tribit makes a very good product for the price. I do not mention competition in my reviews. I have listened to this speaker for a couple of weeks now trying to make a comprehensive review and have decided that this particular Tribit product is "pretty good". After adjusting the equalizer to suit me (maximum bass, maximum treble, good mids, good vocals, etc. I want my music to sound like *how it was made*) I feel that this speaker is outputting serious sound reproduction *for what it is*. What I mean by that is when I evaluate speakers a lot of my grading has to do with price of product, size of product, and also to a degree how the manufacturer advertises the unit. (for example, some speaker manufacturers claim "deep room filling bass when in fact the speaker has no bass at all) I think for the most part Tribits advertisement of this speaker is pretty accurate. The available 9 band equalizer really compliments this speaker and in my opinion is necessary to get the best performance. For a relatively small speaker this unit outputs surprisingly good audio. The bass output is about on par with similar sized speakers *in this price range*, and as good as some much more expensive speakers. The treble and vocal reproduction is excellent. All of those above statements are based on my own adjustment of the equalizer. Your results may vary. I rarely find two people (who appreciate good sound) who agree on equalizer adjustments. This speaker will get pretty loud, definitely loud enough to fill a room. I almost never play my speakers very loud as I prefer not to damage them. I can't comment on water resistance; I never get my speakers wet. Controls are easy to operate, and I like that they are minimal. I also appreciate the lack of silly LED lighting. I prefer the money to be spent on sound reproduction as opposed to adding unnecessary frills. The speaker has good weight to it, sits solidly without moving around, and the attached handle is substantial. I personally would prefer a volume knob as opposed to a bass control knob, but that is just my personal preference. Although I have never been a big fan of omnidirectional speakers, I can see a (limited) use for them and of all the ones I have listened to this is certainly one of the better ones. I searched the internet, including of course Tribits own webpages and could not find any information about the drivers in this unit. I wanted to know the size of the downward firing driver as I believe it puts out excellent base for its small size. I think that when this speaker is on sale it is an excellent buy for an omnidirectional speaker. ... show more

Good speaker, odd spot in Tribit's lineup
The StormBox Max sits in a weird spot in Tribit's lineup. I own quite a few Tribit speakers because they tend to sound decent for the money, and this is the first one where I had to stop and ask who it's for. The design is the pitch. It stands upright, takes up very little table space, and throws sound in every direction. Each speaker has four tweeters, one on each corner, plus a downward firing woofer in the middle. Set it in the center of a patio table or campsite and nobody gets a dead spot. It also gets louder than its size suggests. Think 32oz water bottle, about 20 cm tall, with enough weight that it doesn't feel hollow. Build quality is better than I expected, and it's rated IP68 for water and dust. Now the sound. To my ears these are treble heavy, and the stock EQ seems a bit off. The fix is the app. There are six presets and a nine band custom EQ. The dial on top controls bass across five levels and doubles as play and pause. It works, but you'll set it once and leave it. I'd rather it controlled volume, since that's what I change all day. I always buy my speakers in pairs for stereo, and that's where the value question gets uncomfortable. These are about half the size of Tribit's own Lava speakers, with considerably less power and bass, and the Lava routinely sells for the same or less. Buy the StormBox Max if a small footprint and 360 sound matter most, and you're fine tuning the EQ yourself. Buy the Lava if you want more power and low end for the same money and don't mind the bigger box. Wait for a sale either way. At around $130 it feels pricey, and $80 to $100 is closer to what it's worth. ... show more

So much sound from such a small, compact speaker
If you are not familiar with Amazon Vine, it is basically Amazon trading free* products for honest reviews. I do my best to make my reviews honest, real and value-oriented as if I had paid for each item I receive. * These items are not totally free as Vine members pay income tax on the items they receive. I only mention this because we Viners do have some skin in the game for each item we order. Why I ordered this item: I own a few Tribit speakers already, including the Micro 3 and the Blast 2. This one slots right in the middle. It's closer in size to the Micro 3 but packs a way bigger wallop than its smaller sibling. Likes: * Audio is incredibly clear for lows, mids and highs. The stock EQ profiles are kind of flat though, so download the app and build your own right away. I would not buy this speaker if you don't feel comfortable making your own EQ profile, because I think it is necessary to use this (and most other Tribit products for that matter). * The 360 degree sound is a really interesting feature and is implemented well here. There are no dead spots I could find anywhere around this speaker. It will be perfect for camping trips next summer. * At max volume it gets louder than it looks, if that makes sense. You will be surprised at how loud it gets based on its size. It sounds like more than 60w. With the EQ dialed in, music sounds incredibly clear at all frequencies, even cranked all the way up. * It's about the size of a small handheld lantern and feels great in your hand. It's got some weight to it too, like they crammed a ton of tech into a small shell. * Bluetooth paired instantly, and the app found the speaker and connected on the first try. No likes: * The premade EQ profiles could use some tweaking from Tribit. Even the 'Tribit Signature' option is kind of boring. This is less of a deal because the app is so easy to use and powerful. Would I pay full price for this product: Yes Final thoughts: This is a small speaker that throws sound like a much bigger one. The build feels dense and well put together, the battery barely dropped after a few hours of playing, and the app makes the EQ easy to fix yourself. Anyone who wants one speaker to cover beach days, camping, and backyard hangs will get a lot out of this. Usually $130 would be a big ask for a 60 watt speaker, but here it feels like you are paying for the combination of size, audio quality, and volume. Sure, a Stormbox Blast 2 blows this thing out of the water for roughly 2x the price, but it also weighs over 20 pounds. You could give this to your kid to carry around and they would have no issue. My kid can't even lift my Blast 2. This is an extremely cool speaker and I would buy it again at full price. ... show more

Big, punchy 360° sound with physical controls, but check your footprint expectations
If you want room-filling, outdoor-ready audio without paying the $150 to $200 premium for JBL, the Tribit StormBox Max delivers serious acoustic punch for $103.99 (down from $129.99). Tribit consistently punches above its weight in tuning, and bringing physical EQ and modern Bluetooth protocols to this form factor makes it a standout yard and patio speaker. What works well: Real 60W Acoustic Output & 360° Dispersion: Unlike directional brick speakers, the cylindrical omnidirectional design disperses sound evenly in all directions—ideal for placing on an outdoor table or deck where people sit in a circle. Dedicated Hardware Bass Knob (XBass 2.0): Instead of forcing you into an app just to bump the low end, it features a physical analog-style dial on the top panel with ±5 levels of bass gain adjustment. IP68 Ingress Protection: It exceeds standard splash resistance with an IP68 rating, making it completely dust-tight and fully submergible in water rather than just rain-resistant. Next-Gen Connectivity (BT 6.0 & Auracast): Bluetooth 6.0 provides low-latency streaming and solid range, while Auracast broadcast support allows pairing with multiple compatible units across larger spaces without clunky app setups. Battery Endurance: Up to 20 hours of playtime gives you full-day yard coverage before needing a recharge. The "Be Aware" stuff: Weight & Portability Reality: At 60W output, this is not a pocketable travel speaker. It has substantial weight and girth; the carry strap is essential, but it is meant for backyard patios, car camping, and tailgates rather than throwing in a lightweight daypack. Battery Drain at High Volume / Max Bass: The "up to 20 hours" rating applies to roughly 50% volume with XBass flat. Pushing it to 75%+ outdoors with the bass dial cranked to +5 drops battery life closer to 7–9 hours. Top Knob Exposure: The physical volume/bass knob protrudes slightly on the top deck. If tossed carelessly into a packed duffel or trunk with heavy tools, the dial can snag or take impact. long-term silicone seal durability against chlorinated pool water has limited public testing. Actionable Pre-Use & Testing Checklist: Seal the Port Gasket: Firmly press the rear rubber charging flap completely flush before taking it anywhere near water or sand to protect the IP68 seal. App Firmware Update: Connect via the Tribit app on first power-up to ensure Bluetooth 6.0 and Auracast firmware handshakes are running the latest patch. ... show more

Powerful Outdoor Speaker with Excellent Customization
Why I Got This: I wanted a portable speaker that could provide fuller sound for backyard gatherings, camping trips, and outdoor activities without needing a complicated setup. The 60W output, 360-degree sound, waterproof rating, and adjustable bass made this model stand out. What I Liked: The biggest appeal is the room-filling 360-degree audio. Sound is designed to spread in every direction, which is useful when people are sitting around a patio, campsite, or pool area instead of directly in front of the speaker. The adjustable XBass 2.0 control is a great feature for people who like to personalize their music. The bass can be increased or reduced across five levels, so it should be possible to add more punch for electronic music or tone it down for podcasts and acoustic tracks. The built-in EQ options add even more flexibility. Six preset modes are available, and the nine-band custom EQ allows more precise adjustments. This is more control than many portable speakers in this price range provide. The IP68 protection is reassuring for outdoor use. The speaker is designed to resist both water and dust, making it suitable for beach days, camping, poolside use, and unpredictable weather. The listed 20-hour battery life should also be enough for a full day or weekend of casual listening, depending on volume and settings. Bluetooth 6.0 should provide a modern wireless connection, while TWS pairing allows two compatible speakers to be combined for a wider stereo setup. The built-in microphone is also convenient for hands-free calls. What Could Be Better: At 60W, this is likely more substantial than a small carry-anywhere Bluetooth speaker. It may be less convenient for hiking or travel when space and weight are important considerations. The advertised 20-hour playtime will probably vary depending on volume, bass level, EQ settings, and connection features. Heavy bass and high-volume listening may reduce battery life considerably. The advanced EQ controls are useful, but they may feel excessive for someone who just wants to press play and listen. Buyers should also confirm whether all features, including Auracast support and multi-speaker pairing, work with their existing devices. Although IP68 protection is a strong rating, it is still wise to keep the charging port properly closed and avoid treating the speaker as indestructible. Outdoor use can also lead to scratches or dirt on the exterior over time. Bottom Line: The Tribit StormBox Max looks like a strong choice for people who want loud, flexible sound in an outdoor-friendly package. Its 360-degree audio, adjustable bass, detailed EQ controls, long battery life, and IP68 protection make it well suited for patios, camping, beach trips, and parties. It earns four stars because its larger size and feature-heavy controls may not appeal to everyone, but it offers impressive versatility for the price. ... show more
