I can’t even remember how many umbrellas I have had break because if a gust of wind. It was just a few weeks earlier during a downpour I had one taken out by a wind gust and I was drenched while trying to collapse it before getting in my car. In fact, I recently counted only one unbroken umbrella among the six that I currently had. Some of these had also claimed to be windproof. So I am giving this one a try. So far I have used it twice, both tines the wind was moderately strong, probably around 10 mph with gust to something around 15 mph as my best guess. I had one instance where a gust caught it from underneath but it remained controllable and did not break. I hope not to experience anything stronger in the future as I would not like to find out the limits if this umbrella to stand up to stronger wind. I normally prefer just plain black umbrellas but this one does look pretty with the flower pattern and unlike me my wife prefers in over my normally solid black umbrellas. In summary the umbrella has held up well so far and I feel safe to say that is better constructed than any of my previous umbrellas and even though the price is a but on the higher side if it continues to perform as it has so far then it is worth it and worthy of recommendation. ... show more

    • Nice umbrella but not vented
This umbrella, while only 18 ounces in weight, is heavier than other travel umbrellas I have used. It appears to be more durable, containing sturdy fiberglass ribs and a strong open/close mechanism. The seller's page says the product has a "new ventilated double canopy". Their video shows a black vented umbrella and a blue unvented umbrella. The product I received is unvented. The umbrella opens instantly with the push of a button. Another push of the button partially collapses it, requiring the user to wrap a strap around it and push its handle in. I was able to return it to its case with some effort. The umbrella's Teflon coating should repel water. Overall, this appears to be a sturdy and durable umbrella although the lack of a vent makes me wonder how well it will stand up to strong winds. ... show more

This is a really nice, high-quality umbrella. The outside appears all black but has vivid prints on the inside for the user. The good • The umbrella is light weighing in at about 18 oz and a length on 11.5 inches when closed which is nice and compact for carrying. • The construction of the umbrella appears to be built well the frame looks heavy duty and the umbrella material appears to be double layered / coated with Teflon. • They claim it will withstand winds up to 45 mph but this I have not yet tested. Most wind resistnt umbrellas I have seen have 2 pieces of material overlapped to allow wind to pass through but this is 1 solid piece. I am looking forward to seeing how this measures up to the windy conditions of NYC. • Rain proof it is and it offers nice coverage with a 38-inch inside diameter and 42 inches when measured over the top. The umbrella fully extended is 21.5 inches tall and comes with an umbrella sleeve. • Lastly, they offer a lifetime guarantee without conditions if a failure occurs. This tells me they have a good deal of confidence this will last. The not so good • The umbrella is wider than most other compact umbrellas having a circumference of 8.25 inches which is about as thick around as a standard soda can. ... show more

    • Beautiful umbrella - so nice and better than I hoped for!

First, this just feels like a nice umbrella right out of the package - it does have some weight to it, but I like my umbrella to feel like it’s got some substance and can hold up to a decent breeze, gust or some hard rain. I feel this will get the job down without me worrying about it falling apart it turning itself inside out. The underside flower print is beautiful - vibrant and crisp imagery. I love an umbrella with some whimsy - and this has that and puts a smile on my face. It functions perfectly- push button to open and push button to collapse the hood portion with a manual push to compress the telescoping rod portion. The closer is standard Velcro-type wrap around. A slim bag was included for the umbrella to slide into, but it seems a bit extraneous to me and I’m sure I will just discard it altogether. Overall, nice umbrella that I would recommend - for your yourself or even a gift (who doesn’t need an umbrella - I live in the desert and I still keep one in my car!!). :D ... show more

Opening and closing are easy operations as they are done with a push of a button. Rib strength feels strong and should withstand descent amount of wind. The handle is on the small side, so holding it requires a somewhat forceful grip.

    • Walking under the stars on a rainy afternoon.
I absolutely love the starry night design on the interior of this umbrella. There are plenty of spokes to keep it upright, and the button on the handle makes it easy to open and close. Once opened, the umbrella no longer seemed to fit in the holder, although the velcro strap was perfectly sized to keep the umbrella properly closed. The handle is too thick for my small hands, but the shorter umbrella stem, keeps the umbrella covering closer to my head, and thus tends to keep the wind and rain away from my face. As others have mentioned, the lack of a vent tends to make it more vulnerable to wind, but it is somewhat counterbalanced by the extra spokes and shorter stem. This umbrella will be a treat to use while walking my dog in the rain. ... show more

This is a very big umbrella that compacts into small but fat. It’s so nice looking when it’s open from underneath and it’s quite wide to try and keep you dry. My only issue is that I really have to push hard to close it all the way. For me it’s ok, but people with mobility issues will have a problem. It’s 4 1/2 stars from me. ... show more
