  • Epic Garden Tool
Size: 4 tines
This thing is awesome. It's heavy duty and now my go-to garden tool. Handles and fork ship separate, so don't worry if one comes before the other. I'm a super cheap person and usually just make due with what I have or the cheapest thing I can get. I'm SO SO glad I spent the money and got the GOOD stuff. Worth every penny. ... show more

  • Treadlite Broadfork 12 inch
Size: 4 tines
I have tried to use big commercial heavy broad forks in the past without much luck, they were too big and heavy for me. I was searching for something that I would be able to handle for my small raised bed garden (roughly 8 X 6) and decided to go with the Treadlite brand. My next decision was 12 inch or 14 inch. As I am 5 foot 2 and in my early 60s and not a strong person, I went for the 12 inch believing it would be easier for me to handle and it was. I used the broad fork today for the first time. I was so happy, it exceeded my expectations. My garden soil was easy to pull up and I did not strain myself or the broad fork. I saw so many worms that would have been destroyed had I rototiled. A couple of spots there were some small rocks but I worked around them. Using the broad fork further helped with the weeding and when the soil was pulled up, I could get weed roots pulled out that I did not even see on the surface. This broad fork is strong and I am happy I found it. Please use for intended purposes, it should not be used to pull-up hard rocks or first time hard ground turnover. This broad fork is a marvelous tool for my garden and I am happy to have found it. Broad fork arrived in 2 packages and you need to assemble by connecting fork to polls. The box and packaging are reusable and arrived with a nice note. I am so happy to have found this product as are the earth worms, thank you Treadlite! ... show more

  • Good tool, steel handles would be better
Size: 4 tines
See second photo for actual handle attachment. Be sure to torque to spec, mine snapped at the bolts, but since splinting it pack together I have been breaking new ground full of rocks, some as big as my head. I recommend Treadlite offers a steel handled version, I have to be very careful with the wood handles ... show more

  • Really Love This Tool... if just the handles were stronger. Update 2020
Size: 5 tines
This tool exceeded my expectations. The reason for not rating the tool five stars is the the wood handles are "creaking" which means the wood could be cracking. I have not found any cracks in the wood...yet. But I think the stress point is where the bolts are located. The broadfork does a great job. Easy on your back and the effort required is far easier then using a pitch fork while at the same time being much faster. I developed a way to minimize the stress on the wood handles. I have the model with 14 inch tines. It is fairly heavy to carry but not bad at all to use. I push the broadfork into the ground and rock it back and forth while pushing with my left foot. When the tines are in about halfway I pull back gently on the handles. I then push down the remainder of the length of the tine while rocking back and forth, and then pull back again on the handles. By not pushing all the way down and then pulling back, all in one try, there is less stress on the handle. So essentially it is a two step process instead of one. Update May 2020 I give it 5 stars. This tool is amazing. Wood still kind of "creaks" at times, but this thing is a workhouse . No other tool or machine will dig down 14 inches, unless you want to do a backbreaking double dig. And the garden has fewer weeds and the veggies are really producing huge harvests. ... show more

  • Get Metal Handles!!!!
Size: 5 tines
I love my 4 tyne broadfork be but both wooden handles broke at the metal. Getting the wood out of the cylinder is a real problem!!! Best tool was a wood chisel. Now one of the steel handles broke in the same place. I'm at a loss on how to remove the broken metal handle from the cylinder of the broadfork. ... show more

  • Worth the money!!
Size: 5 tines steel handles
Everything showed up earlier, the treadlite is made of pretty thick steel so I'm not too worried about it breaking a tip,or bending a handle, I cant wait for spring to come to use it, both parts are shipped same day but are separated so I received the main part first but with the bolts with a note telling me that if i haven't got handles yet, they were on their way. Im happy with my purchase 👍 ( UPDATE!! 2024) I bought this couple years back, its still in good shape other then some paint it held up, not bent or broken tips and I've hit some big rocks with it!! still very happy with it!! 😍 ... show more

  • Thanks to yall for inventing a great tool.
Size: 6 tines steel handles
Got your whole property covered in weed fabric Thanks to neighbors Jaquin and Anibor for laying weed fabric all over our entire 1 acre parcel. Have spent years trying to rip it out of the ground only to find another layer hidden under another 6” layer of mulch. I’m in gardening Hell and now We’ve gone to Heaven with the Treadlite Broadfork. This sucker is ripping that crap out and putting bug gashes in it and tearing big bleep holes in it. I may not be able to ever rip it out completely but hopefully the plants can finally root below the first 6” of soil. It lools like its working. For the first time ever our garden is lush and alive. Before it was just piles of mulch and weed fabric everywhere. If you need to use weed fabric. Please use it in specific areas. We love weed fabric for french drains and for edging garden beds but these neighbors even put weed fabric under the grass. So the grass is all that will grow and when you walk on the grass it’s just pure sludge. Please don’t cover your entire property in weed fabric. ... show more
