The finish is perhaps supposed to look distressed, but it just looks like a poor finish to me. The lamp shade was bright white, which didn't look good with the ugly gold finish, so I swapped it for the old lamp's shade. It came in a very small box and was easy to put together though. And the bulb that came with it isn't very bright, and it does not do a 3 way bulb. But it provides enough light for what we needed. I feel like it should have been about $35.00 instead of $70 though ... show more

I almost returned the lamp before opening it. Could not believe that an average shade could be in a small box. Thank goodness my neighbor said she rceived a lamp with a shade that popped out. That needs to be advertised in some way.
