  • reminds me of Ridge Racer with MUCH better graphics.
Platform For Display: Xbox One Edition: Standard
I am more impressed with this game than I thought I'd be. I played it today for 3 hours or so opening up other tracks. This game is addictive and fun! The cars drift. At first it really reminded me of Ridge Racer 7 which was always one of my favorites, but there is less drift than RR7, but not by much. The cars handling is the best I've ever experienced with any arcade racer. You'll start out with10 tracks available. If you get a bronze medal on those ten, you can open ten more etc. As you continue playing, you have to obtain faster and faster scores after you open 50 tracks. The tracks I've played have all been fun. They are short, beautiful, and fun. I pre-ordered this game several months ago, and can tell you I wasn't disappointed. I just remember there being more modes available. On each track you can race your ghost, or a car that has a bronze, silver, or gold medal to compare yourself to where you'll place at the end. Overall, I'm very happy with Trackmania Turbo, and will continue playing until I unlock all the tracks. Most importantly though is the way the cars handle. It's fun, and if you enjoy the way an arcade racer handles you won't be disappointed. Finally, I must again stress that this game is FUN. + 60 frames per second + car handling + play by yourself against your ghost or a car that will qualify for bronze, silver or gold + decent music which isn't annoying and songs can be deleted + you can restart at any checkpoint or start over at any point in the race +asphalt tracks as well as dirt tracks which really show off the drifting abilities +more fun than it looks from watching a gameplay video +jumps, loops, tunnels +lots of tracks available +split screen for 2 to 4 players ... show more

  • Incredibly fast racing over surreal courses.
Platform For Display: Xbox One Edition: Standard
The media could not be loaded. Right from the very first time you start your engines, any thoughts one might have about Trackmania being a serious racing sim in the Gran Turismo, Forza or DiRT Rally tradition are launched out the window. This is because your car is suspended from a helicopter, and when the multilingual three-second countdown reaches zero, your car detaches and you hit the track running, tyres spinning and bass music pumping. The loading screens feature amusing gems such as “To recreate the rally driving experience, have your companion jostle you while loudly shouting directions in your ear”, alongside other irreverent quotes, suggestions and advice. Trackmania Turbo features several multiplayer options including traditional split screen, facing off against up to 100 people online at once, hot seat, and the innovative “double driver” mode. As the name suggests, this involves two players simultaneously controlling the same car. There is a reason this isn’t a thing in real life, but it’s hard to deny the hilarity that can ensue in trying it in the game. If the car receives contradictory inputs (eg one player says go left, another says go right), then the car just goes merrily straight ahead until the drivers sort themselves out and get on the same page direction-wise, or the car crashes spectacularly, whichever happens first. Fortunately there are on-screen prompts indicating which commands the drivers are entering to help make the process a bit easier. The downside is that while the game is fun, bright, and does not take itself too seriously, some of the tracks are frustratingly hard. Sure, if you miss a turn and go sailing over the edge of the track, you can hit a reset button and instantly return to a checkpoint or the start line, but on several tracks I found that I had frequently to line up jumps, turns and the like just right or it was a one-way trip to the reset button. Having said that, Trackmania Turbo is overall a fun arcade racer that’s easy to pick up and play, either alone or with friends and let’s face it, it’s hard not to have fun while you’re recklessly driving a racing car upside down on a track segment that’s partially suspended by an airship. ... show more

Platform For Display: Xbox One Edition: Standard
This is a review mainly on the multi player ability of the game. The tracks are fun, the problem being that most of them are extremely short and you don't do multiple laps. So you do one lap, winner is declared and then you either play that same track again or you exit out and load up a new track all of which takes time. It would be nice to just be able to play a circuit in multiplayer where it would go from track to track, if that is an option I have not found it yet. The ability to randomly generate tracks in multiplayer is nice because in a way it allows for endless options but many of the randomly generated tracks are short and quite frankly not much fun. I am looking forward to designing my own tracks and may update the review after that. The handling of the cars themselves is fairly simple but upon playing (at least the first twenty times or so) there are a lot of times you will go upside down or do a jump and if not handled with precision you go off track... once off track there is no way to get back on track so you wait till the other player finishes or till they go off track. This is more than slightly annoying and it would have been great if the creators had designed a "mario kart" type ability to be dragged back onto the track after a short stint off. I will explore the game more later but initially I would say it's a two star or three star game. I bought it four days ago, played it for one hour and haven't had the desire to go back to it since. Probably one you could pick up for 14.99, but wouldn't pay much more than that. ... show more
