No problem with activation. Phone worked fin and this is my third one. I bought some for my less fortunate family members. Got the 2 year warranty because phone was so well priced. I cannot afford $1200 for a cell phone and monthly data plan.

    • Easy activation, service extended, clean phone.
I already had Tracfone service. Activation is straightforward using the Tracfone website on a computer. The year of service was credited to my account after about 20 minutes. The phone looks like new but came in a plain box without accessories. I kept the phone on for three days after activation and it still had 60% remaining power- but I didn't use it much. After that I reactivated my old phone and the service extension was still there. Note that Tracfone now requires that you use the phone for a year before it can be unlocked. I'm not sure if the included service plan counts toward the unlocking period. ... show more

I could not activate the phone. When I went to Tracfone, they asked for the "service pin" number, but this did not come with the box. The box comes with an "activation card" with the IMEI and Sim numbers, but nowhere was the "service pin" number for the 1 year of service.

Nice phone. Works well so far. Good price. Been using tracfone for years now, good service. Also,I prefer the Samsung phones so this was a good deal for me. Came with time and minutes.

It's a nice phone. It runs the latest version of Android. It does have wi fi calling. That's a great option if you don't want to waste your minutes. Being that it is renewed it does have some issues. I've noticed that it has trouble running Google play games. It's shuts off during game play. God forbid you are watching an Ad. I don't run anything on this phone that would eat up resources. But this phone struggles with running apps properly. Other than the phone not doing what I purchased it for, it's a decent backup phone. ... show more

This review is really for the package deal rather than the phone. The Galaxy A16 has been around for over a year, and there are plenty of reviews for that phone. I snapped up this deal as soon as I saw it, because it's the best value I've _ever_ seen from a Tracfone/service package. A Galaxy A16, even if it is reconditioned, _plus_ 1500 minutes / 1500 texts / 1.5GB of data, plus a 1-year airtime extension, for _that_ price? That's cheaper than what you would pay for just the 1-year extension! Sign me up! (Without naming any names, certain well-known competing retailers would charge double that price or more, and throw in stuff you don't need and/or already have.) My A16 came with everything I needed--the phone itself and the all-important activation card with the IMEI and SIM numbers (you especially need the IMEI if you're transferring your number/minutes/texts/data from your existing Tracfone, as I did). Also included were a USB-C cable, a quick start guide and a copy of Tracfone's terms and conditions. One fly in the ointment: My phone arrived with 0% battery charge. Fortunately, I had a 30-watt quick charger; otherwise, it might have taken me a while to get that battery back to 100%. Another thing to note is that when the phone turned on, the Verizon logo popped up on the screen, rather than the Tracfone one I've been accustomed to seeing, but this is no reason to panic--remember, Verizon bought Tracfone a few years ago. I've been a Tracfone customer for over 20 years, so I'm familiar with the process of transferring my phone number, minutes/texts/data, and apps (I upgraded from a Galaxy A14). I had no issues this time, either. I had to also download various software upgrades (including upgrading the version of Android up to 16) and security patches. Between the transfers and the downloads, it took a couple hours. All in all, I'm thrilled with this purchase. I received what looked like a new phone. Needed to be charged before I could start it. Came with a SIM card installed and the online code to activate. Went through several hours of updates and restarts to get it to the latest android version. Everything went smoothly. Very serviceable phone.

    • Tracfone installation was a true nightmare!
The phone itself was fine. However, getting Tracfone to honor/install the "Promo" package (365 days service/1,500 min.. text, data.) was a nightmare. There was no PIN to utilize, got the phone activated, but none of the Promo was recognized. Spent an hour with Marco, Tracfone chat, & he said nothing could be done as Amazon was not an authorized Tracfone dealer. Spent 2 hrs. on telephone with a Tracfone Service Rep. who would not honor the Promo package that came with the phone. After pleading my case, he talked with 2 different Tracfone "supervisors" who finally agreed to grant me a "courtesy case", & installed the Promo package on my phone. Tracfone never accepted/honored the Amazon/Tracfone package deal. What a hassle! I hope I was the ONLY one that encountered this Tracfone "nightmare". ... show more
