Our towing business manages tow truck block heaters with these and are very happy. The block heaters cost money to run but getting in a truck outside when it's below freezing and having some initial heat is worth the electric bill. We set ours to kick on when the temp is below 40 degrees.

I am using this for winter freeze protection on my RV. I looked at several before settling on this one. The fact that is analog allows it to work without the need to reset after a power outage. Just set it and forget it. I have a couple of the cube style available on Amazon as well, but this one seems to be much more reliable, when considering the cost of a failure. ... show more

    • Excellent sturdy no frills easy to use
This is a heavy duty metal control. Nothing to program, I’m an elderly health compromised man who needs a couple extra degrees. My home has 2 heating Zones. I have a simple oil filled electric radiator. I turn the temperature control on the radiator halfway. I can have 72 degrees in my den without heating the entire floor. You can’t set time periods on this but there is nothing to program thank god. ... show more

    • Wildly inconsistent and unreliable thermostatic switch
We needed a thermostatic switch to turn on a ceiling fan to spread the heat among a couple of rooms having only a single wall heater. This mechanical thermostatic switch unit has a single control knob that is used to set the temperature at which it will turn on another electrical device, in this case a fan. The thermostatic unit was then supposed to turn the fan off whenever the room temperature dropped by three degrees. While the switch could be adjusted to start the fan. it would not turn it off even after the temperature dropped by more than 40 degrees. Amazon sent a replacement unit and it worked perfectly right out of its box. Unfortunately, that's the last time it worked, failing to restart the fan at the preset temperature or stop it unless the control knob was adjusted each time, which is pretty much what we had been doing before we got the supposedly automatic thermostatic switch. We called the supplier that provides the switches to Amazon twice, talked to the same manager of technical services both times and were twice told that he had never heard of such a problem. Apparently he wasn't counting the first time we called. Though appearing to be nicely constructed, at their best, the switches were wildly inconsistent and unreliable. We have returned both units and bought a digital thermostatic switch through Amazon that is working beautifully. ... show more
