    • Nice range of temp. but use the dial temp. as a rough guide only.
I like this device, it is well built. The only disappointment I had was trying to set it to come on at about 40 deg. F. I needed a reliable thermostat to cut on 2 x 250 Watt heat lamps in a dog house. I had been using freeze thermostats made for pump houses to keep pipes from freezing (nonadjustable set @ about 34 Deg.) but they would burn out in a couple of years and I wanted something that would cut on at a warmer temp. Initially, I dialed it to 40 Deg. but it did not come on until it was about 31 Deg. I kept on tweaking it up a little every night until I got it to come on at about 42 Deg. I was happy to get a device to operate at this temp. but the dial was reading about 50 degrees. I don't think the temp. shown on the dial is very accurate at the lower range of temp. Just keep this in mind and check it's performance (with a thermometer) before you just set it and leave it. I have a beagle that gets chilled at this temp. but my Lab. prefers it this cold. They have a nice house with a floor and a rug draped over the entrance. I set this thermostat outside the dog house in the roof, so it keeps the inside temp in the 60s Deg. range when it gets this cold outside. It will not cut off until the outside temp rises above 42 Deg. My beagle is as happy as my Lab no matter how cold it gets. ... show more

I am using this for winter freeze protection on my RV. I looked at several before settling on this one. The fact that is analog allows it to work without the need to reset after a power outage. Just set it and forget it. I have a couple of the cube style available on Amazon as well, but this one seems to be much more reliable, when considering the cost of a failure. ... show more

    • Excellent sturdy no frills easy to use
This is a heavy duty metal control. Nothing to program, I’m an elderly health compromised man who needs a couple extra degrees. My home has 2 heating Zones. I have a simple oil filled electric radiator. I turn the temperature control on the radiator halfway. I can have 72 degrees in my den without heating the entire floor. You can’t set time periods on this but there is nothing to program thank god. ... show more

    • The temperature dial is not accurate and the temperature differential (on-off) varies between units
I have two of these thermostats, one bought in 2018 and the other bought this year. Both have functioned as designed in that they turn on and off at a certain temperature. I have used them with 1600 watt space heaters to keep water pumps in an unheated room from freezing. They are the only reasonably priced thermostat that operate reliably near freezing temperatures. The problem is that you have to calibrate each unit under actual conditions because the dial setrting is not accurate. I have one unit that turns on at 35F when the dial is set to 45F and another that turns on at 35F when the dial is set at 38F. The on -- off temperature range also varies between the units, in one its 4F and in the other 6F. Yes, I recommend the unit. ... show more

    • got what I expected when I placed my order
We installed this thermostat on a "ice eater" it hangs from our dock in the winter time and moves the water so it does not freeze. Because we could set it to come on only when it got cold it really reduced our electric bill-we saved more in electricity than the thermostat cost.
