    • The best unmanaged, fanless, 10G switch
I recently upgraded my house to 10G ethernet, and it was really difficult to find a simple and silent 10G switch. Most of the 10G switches are managed, or they run hot, and need fans to cool them. I just wanted a simple fanless switch that was speedy and reliable. After much searching, I finally found the TP-Link TL-SX105 5-port switch. It's exactly what I needed, and it's fast and reliable. Pros: • Fast • Silent • Reasonably cool • Simple and unmanaged • Pretty small • I like how the status lights work Cons: • I wish there was an 8-port version that was fanless. • It takes about 20 seconds to boot up. So if you're looking for a fast, reliable, fanless, unmanged 5-port switch, this is a great one to get! ... show more

    • Inexpensive, great features, but overheats regularly.
Fanless? Awesome. The issue is that under heavy sustained load, it overheats and stops passing traffic. Requires a power-off cool down period of 30 minutes to start working again. It sits in a room that is never over 72 degrees F. I have it sitting on a metal vented rack shelf, and still had to get a fan to point directly at it so it won't overheat. It's a good price, but at the cost of reliability if you have heavy traffic on your network. ... show more

    • Stopped working after only 1.5 months
Completely dark after 1.5 months. Was working fine then just decided to go completely dark during the middle of the night in a cool house. Unit does run warm but sometime during the night in a house that was about 61 degrees, decided to stop working. No lights. No connections. Tested the power supply which was still working. Internet says this model is well know to stop working due to heat or the power supply. After calling two different TP-Link numbers and waiting number 1 in the queue for over 30 minutes, the agent said I could get a RMA and a new one which could take 1-2 months for the replacement and I would have to pay all the to and from shipping costs. The last TP-Link product I will ever buy. ... show more
