  • Somewhat deceptive, bottlenecks around 175mbps
The Archer T2U Nano is okay for certain use cases, if you have a sub 150 mbps internet connection or you just want to add internet to a device that doesn't have it and aren't particularly concerned about speed, it's an excellent value (most Wi-Fi USB adapters that are sub $15 seem to be sad, single band N150 affairs) and it takes up virtually no space. However, you shouldn't expect to get the full rated speeds that TP-Link states that the device is capable of, in my experience, after over 50 speed tests using the 5 GHz band I managed no more than 175.15Mbps, and more consistently fell to around 165Mbps. It is in fact the only device that I own that is not capable of exceeding 200Mbps on my connection. For comparison, TP-Link states that a 433Mbps connection is possible using the 5Ghz band and the 802.11ac standard. Obviously, you get what you pay for, but you should be aware that you're only getting roughly 40% of the advertised performance of this device. ... show more

  • Plug and Play at its best.
I have a Windows 10 computer (Dell Inspiron 13). Since the newest Windows 10 update about 4 months ago, my internet gets disconnected at random times several dozen per hour, and I have to use the troubleshooting to get it to work for a couple minutes, before it drops off. I've tried *everything* in the troubleshooting book. Uninstalling. Installing newest version. Installing old version. Changing every setting. Formatting again. Calling time and time again, nothing works. Then I finally stumbled upon a post that specified my wireless card and the specific update, and it clicked. They recommended a wireless adapter, and this was one of Amazon's top recommendations. Plugged it in, and it immediately went to work. I only had to select Wifi-3 (my internal adapter defaulted to 2), re-enter my home wireless password, and I was connected the entire night. It did not flicker once all night. No slow downs. I had forgotten what it was like not to have to load up my home page just to see if I was still connected or not. Should've gotten this months ago. ... show more

  • 5GHz band works well but not the 2.4GHz band
Model: Archer T2U Nano (AC600 dual band) I bought this for a Windows 7 laptop for two reasons: 1. The laptop's built-in WiFi was becoming unreliable. 2. The built-in WiFi only supported 2.4GHz band but not 5GHz band. Pros: Very small size i.e. same size as a wireless mouse recevier. Works very well on the 5GHz band. Green LED indicates it's working. Installation of drivers using included CD was easy. Cons: Installation using drivers downloaded directly from the manufacturer's web site did not work. Unable to update the drivers either. I'm glad my laptop had a CD/DVD reader to install the driver from. Speed test: According to the speed tests, performance of the 2.4GHz band is mixed. When I'm located close to the router, 2.4GHz band works well and is faster than the built-in Wifi of my laptop. When located in another room, then the 2.4GHz band is very poor in comparison to the built-in WiFi (Realtek chip). Speed on the 5GHz band is steady and strong regardless of which room I'm located in. This is slightly disappointing - not sure what the technical reasons are. I guess I'll stick to the 5GHz band as the default on this adapter - it is strong and fast. ... show more

  • This is an absolutely terrible network adapter.
I did not have a high expectation. I wanted an adapter that would allow my 6 year old laptop's WiFi to be faster than it already is. It currently sits at anywhere from 130 to 170 megabits per second. This adapter... it couldn't even get within 50 megabits per second of this laptop. 77 megabits per second download, with 62 upload. The laptop's original included WiFi hardware gets 140 megabits download with 67 upload. This is insulting. For a brand new adapter advertised to be 433 megabits per second, to get roughly SEVENTEEN PERCENT of its advertised performance is ludicrous. Do not buy. ... show more

  • A lot of "no" for this product
Would not, and could not, install this dongle. Upon plugging it into a USB port, Windows 10 recognized it not as a Wifi adapter but instead a storage device. Went to the manufacturer's website and downloaded their drivers, but the end result was the same. Even tried installing on another computer but to no avail. Emailed their tech support and, 10 days later, have no heard squat from them. Maybe I just had a bad pick of the litter but I had to return the sucker. ... show more

  • NEVER BUY FROM THEM AGAIN - WARRANTY RUNAROUND TO DISCOURAGE CLAIM
Purchased January 17, 2020; product completely failed on June 17. Used Manufacturer Chat link - it is designed to frustrate you to the point of giving up on your claim. Spent many minutes on in queue. When finally connected, customer service rep (CSR) asked me to retype the information that I had entered just to get into the queue (basically Refund or Replace Defective Product). CSR extremely slow in responding; I had to ask repeatedly, "Are you there?" Finally figured out they were handling multiple customers when CSR responded that they were "multi-tasking" and that was why it was taking so long. After an "eternity" of answering and waiting for response many mundane questions, CSR finally asked gave me a checklist of 10 or so questions to "troubleshoot" the issues. Some of them had already been answered, some were idiotic - "Is product working now?" Finally CSR gave me a link to register the product and request a replacement and told me to do it from a new tab while remaining on chat with them. Had to set up an account, then could not register the account without a serial number, even though I uploaded the Amazon proof of purchase order details. Went back to Chat to find out how to handle this issue, it would not let me resume Chat (as the CSR told me) so I had to re-enter the queue at which time it was another 6 people ahead of me. WILL NEVER BUY FROM THEM AGAIN!!! ... show more
