  • Easy to set up, less latency than expected
I was skeptical about how well this would work based on the mixed reviews, but it is working great so far in my small house. I'm using it to connect a desktop to a modem about 50 feet away, electrical outlets on a different breaker. Less latency than WiFi, fine for online gaming. I have been getting around 100Mbps and a latency of 16ms (On ethernet, it's 120Mbps and 14ms). I read mixed reviews before purchasing, so I think that the performance is very dependent upon the quality of wiring and electrical setup in your individual home. ... show more

  • It works, but read the directions to connect
I have 1G internet with 5Ghz main wifi and 2.4Ghz guest wifi network. My living room tv on 5Ghz wifi was around 4 Mbs, which caused it the TV apps to buffer if anyone else was on the wifi. Even if you switched to the 2.4Ghz that no one else was on it would buffer, so I bought this to try to solve this problem. Now the TV connects around 65mbs and works without buffering. Time will tell how long it last, but so far so good. ... show more

  • It works
It took less than 5 minutes to install and get it working. I have a Google fiber and I installed this pretty much at the opposite ends of my house with possibly a lot of appliances and outlets for interference. I didn't get the speed over 100 MB/s but it ranged from 50 to 80. That was enough for my Xbox One and Media PC to work. It is bulky so that you might have to dedicated the whole dual outlets to this one unit but it beats the wiring in any days. ... show more

  • Better than WiFi Boosters
Although purchased as a refurbished item the Powerline looks like new and works like new! Easily set up and connected my modem/router on one floor of my townhome to my 4K TV on another floor. All my 'Apps' are now delivered quickly, without interruption, re-buffering or other audio/video quality problem. I have tried wifi boosters but the performance paled compared to the Powerline. ... show more

  • Does the job, and easy to use.
We live in an older home with very poor (almost unusable) wifi penetration. For a few reasons, at this time the cable access for the modem is downstairs and running cable is not an option. These powerline adapters are just about the perfect solution for us. Even in a home with older wiring (~50 years old), I'm getting about about 40-50 of our 70 megabit download speed, the full 5mb upload speed, and a decent 30ms ping. It might not be as good as just running cable, but we were using a set of older 500mbps actiontec powerline adapters, and with these tp-link refurbs our network has gone for sort of tolerable to good. Setup is super easy, just a push of the button on each adapter. You would probably get better results in a newer home with better wiring, but even so if you find yourself in a situation where that's not an option, these are definitely worth a shot. ... show more

  • Excellent throughput, easy to install
You install one of these in an electrical outlet near the router, with an ethernet patch cable connecting it to the router, and the other one wherever you need ethernet signal. There's a sync button on the side which you press, first on the one near the router, then on the other one. They sync up in a minute or so, and then you have high speed internet between them. In my case, the internet speed at the router was about 118 Mbps, and the speed at the other end was about 85 Mbps. That's excellent, considering I had the other unit on the far side of my house from the router. One drawback is that the powerline adapter has to be plugged directly into the wall outlet for best results, and it covers up both plugs at that outlet. I used a 3-prong cube tap to space it out from the wall so I could use the other wall plug for my power strip. The cube tap did not affect the connection speed, but DO NOT plug this into a power strip, or it probably won't work. The other snag I ran into was that I was trying to use this with a TIVO Roamio DVR system, but the TIVO did not "like" being plugged directly into the powerline adapter's power pass-through, so I had to plug them into different wall outlets. This is more of an issue with the TIVO than the powerline adapter. Overall, I'm very happy with this powerline adapter. In my last house, I crawled around in the attic to install an ethernet cable to the other side of the house, and this solution is vastly superior to doing that. ... show more

  • Not true Gb, but good enough for what I needed it for
I am using this to get Steam Link working in a room far from my PC and for that it works great. I get about 130Mb/s down and up which exceeds the max of 100 Mb/s the Steam Link can do (it only has a 10/100 port). My house was built in the 80s and so the wiring is much better than many older houses which may be a reason why this worked so well for me. No one should expect a full Gb connection out of this, but it is far better than 2.4Ghz wireless. While technically 5Ghz WiFi should hit 200+Mb/s, but you need to be within about 10ft of the AP to get those kinds of speeds which really defeats the point. I bought this as a refurb and it looked brand new to me. I suspect these regularly get returned for not working well in older homes with poor wiring so buying the refub didn't scare me much. ... show more

  • Blazing Speed
I purchased these as an upgrade to the DHP-309AV. I originally purchased the instead, DHP-701AV, but they are worthless and had to be replaced. My house was built in 2015. In the same room, same breaker, roughly 100 feet of wiring total, they connect at 1890Mbps. Different rooms, different breaker, roughly 170ft of cable, 1480Mbps. In the same spots, the 309 connected at, 369 and 184. I can now now transfer data from my office to my nas at 70+MBps. I highly recommend. ... show more
