This reel is absolutely amazing. First Lew’s for me, and I will now be brand loyal forever. Once you dial this bad boy in, I can sling my preferred 1/2 oz baits at full force and only use my thumb to stop the spool. I have 2/4 of the internal brakes turned on (comes from factory this way, I tried other setups and switched back) and the external brakes I keep at a low 2. For my second Lew’s bait casting real, this was a good choice. Pretty green to the baitcasting concept. I still get the occasional bird nest, but they aren’t all that big and usually come out fairly easy. Seems smooth to me, and casts pretty well, IMO. Highly recommend

I got this to upgrade from a cheap castking bait caster and the action is a lot smoother and it has a nice durable build quality worth the money when on sale imo. I have compared it with my friends shimano and I dont think you can go wrong with either brand. Might not help you catch more fish but you'll feel a lot better doing it. ... show more
