I bought this to replace the backpack I bought for 15 dollars 15 years ago at Wal-Mart, which has held up surprisingly well considering all the groceries I packed out in it over the years - and yet, the material at the bottom is thinning, and the zipper broke and misaligned. So I was in the market for a new "daily driver" and this I have found to be very suitable. The grey color I chose is cooler in the Texas heat than the black of previous backpack. The insulation helps to keep cold things cold. The firm contour and padding of the material lets me pack it out with heavy or fragile groceries (such as glass or soda cans) without it distorting the shape of the backpack and jamming into my back. And the upper compartment means I can add something heavy but needing to be distinctly packed (i.e., onions, eggs, canned goods, yogurts). The one drawback is the upper compartment zipper, which has an outer lip that makes zipping and unzipping a little more difficult than it should be.

This backpack was everything I expected and more. It held all of my stuff as well as kept cold/frozen water bottles and food cold. I first used it when I chaperoned my daughter’s field trip to the zoo which was my test run for our upcoming Disney trip. It was perfect! Even with quite a few water bottles weighing it down, I still found it very comfortable to wear while doing a lot of walking. Fast forward to 6 days in Disney Parks and I am still mostly satisfied with this backpack and would recommend. We were dealing with 90+ temps with extreme humidity and we were spending at least 10 hours in the parks a day. Usually more. My frozen water bottles stayed frozen in the backpack. Eventually I just remembered to take one out well in advance and put it in the side pocket to thaw enough to drink. The only 2 things that were annoying… but not dealbreakers was that even though it said the bag didn’t sweat or get wet, it definitely will in Florida humidity. I was sweating anyhow but the bottom part of the bag had moisture as well and that wasn’t from me. But it was so hot it felt good, so not too big of a deal. I would be leery about put loose ice in this backpack though! I wouldn’t do it. Also, the top of the backpack becomes quite too heavy if the bottom pack isn’t full. If you are like us and mostly filling the bottom with beverages, the beverage containers are being tossed/recycled as you drink…. So eventually the backpack starts to feel weird and if you aren’t wearing, it will sit kind of weird wherever you place it. AGAIN not a big deal for us and this was a foreseeable issue just looking at the mechanics of a soft sided backpack like this. What I loved the most was that it was comfortable. When you are walking that much in extreme heat, comfort is key!

I purchased this for a work trip, to bring back frozen breast milk. Last time I brought home less milk and used my pack-it lunch bag but I needed more room this time. It worked so well. It can hold a ton of milk and multiple ice packs. Although all of that liquid was heavy it was really comfortable to wear and sturdy. And the other compartments made it easy to carry other things I needed.
