  • Happy old pony
Color: Black
I have a 23-year-old arab/welsh pony. She belonged to our local Pony Club and is well schooled in showing and jumping. She is blind in one eye, however, and will not side-pass to that side. She also has a tendency to flip her head about to see so she is basically useless to show. I got her for my 12-year-old who has since lost interest in horses. I however, have NOT and enjoy tooling around the neighborhood with her. I've purchased both an english and western saddles for her to fit my younger daughter but didn't wish to buy a larger saddle for the little bit of riding that I do. I was in the market for a bareback pad because of expense and sizing problems. I chose this model because it appeared to be a bit more robust than the cheaper, plainer versions and because it had stirrups in case my 12-year-old wanted to ride. I am completely satisfied with it. I use it WITH a saddle blanket and a 28 inch cinch. I was a little surprised about how small it is. It fits me and Princess (yes, her name is Princess, no, I did not name her) just fine but it might be a problem for a larger rider or horse. I even have the stirrups let out as long as they'll go and I'm only 5'4". If you are a small person with a small horse in need of a quick fix in the saddle department for pleasure rides then this is a great buy. If you have a larger horse, are a larger person, are a less experienced rider and/or are going to be doing anything more strenuous than loping down a familiar trail, take the time and money to get yourself a well-fitting saddle. ... show more

  • It's like sitting on a pillow
Color: Black
I purchased this because when I am riding for fun, I prefer to ride bareback. Problem is my Paso Fino mare sweats horribly. So to save myself from a terrible rash, I thought this would be a great fix. First time out, I lost the nut on the stirrups, not a big problem they are easy to find. I did use plumbers tape when I replaced it to insure that the nut didn't come off again. I do recommend that you use a fleece cool pad under the saddle for more comfort for both you and your horse. It fits me perfectly although I am quite petite and using the cool pad, I didn't have any of the problems I read in other reviews of not being able to use the stirrups for getting on and off. I am not sure that it would be a good fit for someone like my husband that is 6'2". All in all I really like this saddle, I can put my horse through her paces perfectly because it sets your balance correctly. For the price I think this is a great product. Just make sure after purchasing that you make sure that the nuts on the stirrups are tightened , plummers tape or some lock tight, would help insure the loss of the stirrups when you are miles from home. ... show more

  • Great value comfortable and easy to gear up
Color: Brown
This saddle pad is wonderful it's so nice . it's just so easy I can put it on her with one hand. it's great for summer it's got enough to hold me while I'm standing in the stirrups. Love this saddle pad

  • Using this as a training aid
Color: Black
While it looked like I may have been sent a used saddle pad, I didn't care much because I was about to get it dirty anyway. I bought this for a training aid for my yearling, as a way to get her used to something on her back and stirrups against her sides. I haven't actually used it on either of my other horses, so I honestly can't tell you if it's comfy or not. All seems good for now as far as quality goes. I did have to buy a cinch to go with it, which I already knew. ... show more

Color: Black
It came a day early first off. it did not come with a cinch but I didn't care because I wanted to use my own anyway. I will definitely be taking the stirrups off because they are too short for my long legs, and I think I will get more out of the experience of bareback riding if I don't use stirrups to help keep my balance. I put it on my horse for the first time today and rode around my property. It is extremely comfortable! Yes it did slide down my horse's back as I went uphill, but my breast strap will take care of that (yay for D rings on the pad!!) I can't wait to use it on a longer ride soon! ... show more

Color: Black
I have had this bareback pad for a while now and I love it. It's true the stirrups are not very secure (hence my 4 star rating...but in all fairness it might just be that I don't know how to secure them correctly. However, if that is the case a clear instruction on how should be included) but if that is an issue you could always stapple or stitch the stirrups to be more secure. I have found it very comfy and hardy. I don't ride in it too frequently, mostly just on days when I need to work on my seat/position in a more natural medium than my saddle allows, but when I do I love it. ... show more

  • What a great little saddle
Color: Black
What a great little saddle. Perfect for quick tack up of your pony for quick ride around the acreage. I have 2 ponies at 10hh weighing 450 lbs. and 11.2 hh weighing 550 lbs., and the girth strap is a bit long for them, but other than that it fit them both very nicely. Kids can easily put on and sench up. I dont recommend getting on with the stirrups... they come off to easily with to much weight on them. Use a mounting block or tree stump or hill to hop on... this fact alone is why I did not give it 5 stars. Other than that it is a comfy affordable alternative to a bareback saddle. ... show more

  • Different in design but just as nice.
Color: Black
The original pad I purchased 15 years ago was much better designed, it had saddlebags and a larger squared rear-end. This one is good, just different. Like the previous one, I will take this to an upholstery shop and have them stitch the stirrup straps to the sides so I can mount from the ground. It works great, I'm over 200 pounds and my old one is still in excellent shape with no tears. Tough-1 makes some really great products. ... show more
