The TOTO WASHLET S5 Elongated Electric Bidet Toilet Seat with Instantaneous Water Heating and PREMIST delivers ecology-minded luxury with a streamlined design. Unlike traditional toilet paper that can often be rough and ineffective, the WASHLET quickly provides endless comfortable warm water cleansing at the touch of a button. Part of the newly redesigned S series, the WASHLET S5 is fully automated, featuring an illuminating night light and a soft rear spray, rear cleanse, and front cleanse with the option of an oscillating or pulsating stream. The controls are located on a slim, wireless remote. PREMIST wets the surface of the toilet bowl, aiding in the removal of waste and resulting in a better clean. The S5 model utilizes TOTO's EWATER+ system when the wand self-cleans. EWATER+ transforms the water into a safe and powerful compound, creating peace of mind by cleaning the inside and outside of the wand before and after every use. The S5 WASHLET features a heated SoftClose seat with five temperature settings, an air deodorizer, and a warm air dryer with five temperature settings. Using a WASHLET reduces the need for toilet paper, saving trees and water used to manufacture each roll. After a visit to Japan earlier this year and experiencing their much more civilized and comfortable toilets, I decided to get a bidet. I started with a Toto K300 for my main bathroom and have been loving it for several months, so much so I actually found myself avoiding using my second bathroom altogether as that one had no bidet and had nothing but a cold toilet seat and an abundance of toilet paper. I ordered this new S5 bidet to solve that problem, and it's been just as fantastic as my first bidet. Instant and never-ending warm water spray, and an adjustable temperature heated seat make my toilet a so much more comfortable and hygienic experience than common setups found in most American bathrooms. It is very important to measure the distance between your toilet seat mounting bolt holes and the tank. There must be a minimum of two inches of space between, or the bidet will not fit properly. My second bathroom toilet was fine, but in my main bathroom, the space wasn't sufficient, so I ended up buying a Toto Drake toilet. They are not inexpensive, but I don't regret the decision, as even their toilets are far superior in operation to most others. This Toto Washlet S5 replaced my $30 Vekken basic bidet that's been installed for the past five years. Is it 20x better (based off cost)?! That's a high bar and also subjective. There are many features that the Toto has that aren't even in the same category as the Vekken but are they worth it in aggregate? Perhaps... Pros - Easy to install especially if you've already installed a bidet before & fits perfectly on my elongated bowl - Looks great and has excellent hygiene features that keep the overall toilet cleaner longer - Comfortable seat shape - Seat warmer and warm water spray are well done and comfortable (& adjustable!) - Many washing/drying options including personalized settings - Self clean is superior to manual/unpowered bidet - LOVE the bowl light. It has a great, modern feel - Eco features are nice to have to conserve electricity overall - Quiet functionality - Remote is easy to use and intuitive - Lots of plastic but well made and feels durable - Overall works well and does the job with lots of extras. Cons - Water pressure even at highest setting is lower than the Vekken. For some this may be a pro. For me, it just means that "the process" takes longer. - Requires monthly and bi-annual maintenance on water filtration and air filtration mechanisms - Expensive Overall, is it worth the upgrade? I'd say so if it were $350 but for $653, it's a bit on the high side. That's the only reason I don't give it more than 4.5 star rating. Overall Recommended! ... show more

Ordered this because the brand seemed to have a solid track record and the price for the feature set seemed solid. I'm very VERY happy that we did. The heated water and fan/dryer are worth the cost of admission alone. We have had a cold water bidet for a couple of years and it worked well, and was already a great upgrade from dry wiping.. But this thing is truly a fantastic step up. The hot water really seems to clean better and the ability to blow air for drying are both new features for my family and we love them! Installation was fairly simple, we don't have an outlet behind the toilet but a basic white extension cord reaches to a nearby outlet without too much trouble and without being in the way. Again, totally worth it. My one critacism is that our last bidet allowed for the use of virtually any seat, and we all liked our enabled wood seat.. But now its just plastic... Still worth the trade off but a noticeable change in comfort. ... show more

I am really enjoying my new Toto S5 Washlet. It has a ton of features. The only features missing are the automatic toilet seat lid open and close and the auto flush. (I think auto flush requires special Toto toilets and a special kit, but I haven’t investigated this.) I also like the slimer profile it has – much more like a typical toilet seat. The features I especially like: (Everything!) • Heated seat with different heat levels. • Instant heated water with different heat levels. • Front and rear cleansing with different pressure options, plus soft, oscillating and pulsating water. • Heated air dryer with different heat levels. • Automatic cleaning functions – wand cleaning, bowl mist and air deodorizer. • Soft close lid and night light. • Programable for up to 4 users. • Remote control that can be mounted on the wall. Batteries are included. • Ease it can be removed for cleaning. Installation is surprisingly simple. 1. Turn off water to toilet. 2. Take your old oblong seat lid off. 3. Unscrew water supply line to toilet tank. 4. Screw in T connector to toilet tank. 5. Attach water supply line to bottom of T connector. 6. Install seat mounting hardware. 7. Slide Washlet onto seat mounting hardware. 8. Connect Washlet’s hose to T connector. 9. Plug-in. Electrical outlet needs to be within 3 feet of toilet. 10. Program remote and mount to wall. Manual is clearly written and easy to follow. There are also some videos on the internet that do a nice job showing what needs to be done. Basic Toto bidet installation is similar; doesn’t really matter which exact unit you buy. I am also still playing with the programming to set mine just right.
