  • Misleading description, beware.
Style: 1200 GPH Waterfall Pump
The fourth bullet point states "Compatible with 1 1/2 in. and 1 in. ID tubing". I purchased this item to replace a pump with 1 1/2" tubing. When the item arrived I was dismayed to find that the only connection was the 1" threaded connector shown in the pump image. When I read a proclamation that something is "compatible" to me that means out of the box, not that I need to run out and buy adapters. Why not also include in the description that it's compatible with 1/2" or 3/4" or 1 3/4" or 1 1/4" tubing? Why not state it's compatible with ALL tubing and hoses? You might as well if you're going to state "1 1/2 in." I am returning this item since it is not suited for my application. ... show more

  • Works Well After Two Seasons + Tips for the About-to-be-Experienced
Style: 1200 GPH Waterfall Pump
Once again, Made in China has cropped up in another consumer market. That alone may dissuade pump customers, but they should be prepared to fork over a lot of money for the satisfaction of comparable non-Chinese equipment. Unhappy about this, I still went ahead and bought a Total Pond 1200 gph pump. (BTW, Total Pond is Geoglobal Partners, a division of OASE.) Fortunately, I've had better luck with this pump than other Amazon customers. It has served a medium sized pond with a 5 foot head waterfall through about 30 feet of 1.25 inch tubing for two seasons. Aside from continuing to operate properly, what I like about this pump is the easy disassembly for cleaning. This is critical for longevity of ceramic shaft pumps. It uses 82 watts, info that is not easy to find. Customers complaining about outlet connection sizes: I gave up trying to make proper plumbing connections on pond pumps when it seemed that every manufacturer (and perhaps product runs of the same manufacturer) produced outlets with different size / threads. Finding fittings is just too much work and expense. My advice to everyone for any pond pump: take the pump to a decent hardware store, find tubing that fits snugly over the pump outlet, and secure it with a stainless steel aircraft clamp (see photo--the pump is sitting on the filter box I run it in, just a black storage container with slots cut in it). My last observation for what it's worth is that pond pumps of any manufacturer (I've had many) are fickle; they may last a long time, they may not. They are tiny little machines that work in often tough conditions 24 hours a day for months; that they may last for years is amazing in itself. The best bet is to use a prefilter of some sort (even the bag that comes with this one) and clean everything frequently. ... show more

  • Don't expect to replace an existing Total Pond 1200 pump with this.
Style: 1200 GPH Waterfall Pump
It has the same part number as previous pumps but re-designed for a 1-inch output. One would think you could just take apart the old one and replace the output housing to get the previous 1 1/4 inch fitting, but the genius who re-designed this used .0001 cent less plastic so it does not fit. Overall it seems cheaper, the impeller is "different" and I would assume cheaper too. It will be less of a hassle to just purchase an adapter than return this, but I'm not expecting this to last very long. I hope the new design proves me wrong. The output will definitely be less also since it's pushing water through a 1-inch orifice instead of 1 1/4. This will be my very last pump from Total Pond. ----------- Update- took 2 trips to the hardware store to get this working. The box says 1-inch output BUT IT'S 3/4 inch! The flow from this pump is way less than before because they changed the output from 1 1/4 inch to 3/4 inch. The waterfall was thundering with the previous pump, but not anymore. Can't wait until it dies and then get a real 1200 GPH pump. ... show more

  • No more TotalPond LL1200 for me!
Style: 1200 GPH Waterfall Pump
This is the second TotalPond LL1200 that I have purchased. The first quit working and is covered by warrantee. I replumbed my pond to function with the size of tubing recommended in instructions...1" ID flexible PVC. Dug the trench for it myself, and I'm not a kid. I purchased a similarly rated pump of another brand to keep the water circulating while I went through the process of getting the first pump repaired or replaced. Brand X was much less powerful, so I ordered the second LL1200. I kept it in the package until I finished some revisions to my waterfall, got that done and was relieved to finally have the new pump ready to install and get the water flowing again. LO AND BEHOLD! TotalPond apparently has drastically changed the size and fittings of the pump but retained the SAME MODEL NUMBER!!!! After that shock, I still took it out to try out, although it will need different fittings to hook up to my water line to the waterfall..........and the new LL1200 is DEAD AS A DOORNAIL. Unbelieveable. Just about as goofy as it gets. I took a photo of the two pumps and their packaging for comparison. My kitchen counter was messy, but it gets that way when I spend all of my time on pond plumbing. The new pump is the one on the left. Forgive me if I seem grouchy! ... show more

  • Longevity is a problem
Style: 3600 GPH Waterfall Pump
A pump is a pump, however, my last twos Total Pond Pumps lasted for 8+ years - and they stayed In the skimmer box (under water) year round. Yesterday I tried to start my pond up and the pump failed to work. After doing the spring cleanup, I was shocked and dismayed that it wouldn't work. I checked the ground outlets and they worked fine. The was purchased in October of 2020 and was shut down for the season around the second week of November. It was submerged in 14 inches of water which never freezes due to a bubbler that works 24/7 and ice can't form. I restarted it in March 2021 but it only ran for a little over a month and was then shut down for redesigning the pond-that's why it got one star for longevity. We then ran it 24/7 until it was shut down for the 21-22 winter. I'm going to contact the company and get their feedback. I will write another review based on their reactions or lack thereof. Their response may change the rating, but the ... show more
