Description

TotalBoat Spartan is a self-polishing boat bottom paint with high copper content for multi-season protection on boat bottoms and hulls below the waterline. Spartan's ablative copper copolymer formula continuously releases approximately 40% cuprous oxide biocide to protect your boat from barnacles, algae, slime, weeds and other marine fouling organisms. You can even haul and relaunch without repainting. Simply scuff lightly before launching next season. This durable antifouling paint provides a smooth, abrasion-resistant finish for maximum performance and fuel efficiency. Racing? Both sail and power boaters will appreciate that Spartan's finish may be burnished to improve speed. While bottom paint is usually applied on fiberglass boats, it can also be applied to wood, prepared steel, and prepared iron hull bottoms. Use over just about any existing marine paint in good condition. It's easy to apply to your boat's hull by brushing, rolling or spraying, and it dries fast so you can finish painting and start enjoying your time on the water with the peace of mind maximum antifouling protection provdes. Good price, quality product, works great for trailered boats doesn’t rub off on the bunks or rollers easily, follow the instructions and you can DIY it, don’t forget to shake and stir to get a good mix, lays on nice, sets and dries pretty quick. If you follow the instructions and adheres well. P.s it’s quite durable I edged the boat up on a sandbar to hang out, backed off and hauled the boat later that day out the bottom paint is still there and looks good! ... show more

This is a solid boat paint it works well, but not the best. I needed a thick coating just encase, and put 3 gallons on my boat. I'll start with a better more expensive paint. Argo did better and had little growth if any in FL winter and spring. The problem was 2 gallons wore off quickly in a steady but slow tide current. I didnt see right away that the growth was actually on the grey barrier coat that was showing in tiny specs. So, I though get 3 gallons of the Spartan hope it worked and to have a thick base coat over my barrier coat and what little was left of the argo. I wanted to see how well it did and go back to the argo if it didnt perform that well. I was worried the barricles would screw up the barriar coat again, but this way I would have a thick foundation at the least, a multi season ablative for in and out trips to the keys and scalloping up north, but also able to go in brackish canals and salt, just lacking self polishing. Spartan seems to shed off slower but during the summer it had small to medium hard growth. It would be fine up north but down here you need to scrape monthly, which I dont want to do. Now Argo is discontinued :( If I could do it all over again I would have done barrier, then 3 gallons of Spartan, the 3 of Argo and then 2 coats of argo every year from then on. I would have spent the money originally on 3 or 4 gallons of Argo but it was my first ever bottom coat job and I didnt know how quickly it would have worn off, but Argo performed great. Too bad it wasnt a little cheaper too, and it did fresh and salt water where micron 66 is salt only and not as good for multi season. Now what should I do :( This gallon of Spartan was touch up for an issue I had w my trailer. I recommend it for cool waters below 80deg (unless you scrape or drive many miles frequently), trailering is good, it worked better closer to the surface, but not a foot below, which was wierd. Its a good abalative, but not self polishing, however it also doesnt have the price tag of self polishing. ... show more

Good paint, applied nicely, looks good. Will know better at next haul out. Only issue was the cans (3) were heavily dented through Amazon . When I bought directly from Total Boat they came a well packaged box and were in good shape. Would use again but purchase directly from TB.

Waste of time and money. I followed the manufacturer instructions as written. Used my boat thru out the season for long runs. When I hauled out I found lots of growth. I will be using another brand next season

this is my second order from Jamestown Distributors. They're awesome. Ordered a gallon of primer, they sent it along with stirring sticks, gloves, and mixing tubs, how cool is that. Ordered some other items this time, paint, fairing compund, and thinner. Arrived as said, and again, more gloves, like a dozen stirring sticks, a nice tyvek suit, AND a pan and roller set. Over the years, Ive always tried to shop local, but, I have to say this is way better, you dont have to go anywhere and they send you FREE STUFF. This is the first time I have used Total Boat's SPARTAN. I am impressed with the coverage and looks good too. The boat is in the water on the South Texas Coast, and back in the water for several months now and still see almost no growth below the waterline. While at the shipyard, the boat next to mine was also using Spartan except in Blue. the Blue also looked impressive. ... show more
