  • Well built, clean modern looking, sounds good as is, sounds great with better speakers. Good value
Small unit that feels high quality. The volume control moves smoothly, the top is flats you could put things on it, books or CDs maybe. It's about 18cm wide, 12cm tall, 21cm deep. 7x4.5x9.5 inch. Easily fits into an ikea bookcase cube. The speakers that came with did the job, with about 1m of cable each. Not much. They were rated 4 Ohms. The speakers use a little plug. Icut the plug 5cm in and used the plug to connect some 6 Ohm speakers I had from my last system, on longer speKercable. With the better speakers the sound is fantastic. I love the great sound from such a small stylish unit. The bluetooth connection works great, I am mostly using it for CDs and bluetooth from my phone. I have not tried the radio. The remote is small and useful. For me the print on the remote is hard to read, too small and not enough contrast. I got one used as new, and it seems new. Amazing value. ... show more

  • This is a terrific micro stereo system for the price point
For the money spent, I'm not sure I could have done any better. I wanted something compact that can sit on my night stand next to my bed. To save space I only attached one speaker and the sound quality is still awesome! When I attach and uncurl/extend the radio antenna I get just as good or better reception than I did with the previous system this replaces. The remote is intuitive and easy to use, but it includes a few functions that can't otherwise be found on the main unit, ... so don't lose or break the remote! This is typical of most micro systems though. The speaker wires are somewhat short. You can place the speakers a maximum of only about 30 inches away from the main unit. The speaker wires have a plug attached to them that plugs into the back of the main unit, so extending the speaker wires would require cutting/splicing. I really like that this is so versatile. Radio, CD, auxiliary line in jack, and even Bluetooth is available. It also has an option with pre-set equalizer settings that can somewhat customize the sound. The overall sound quality is great for what it is and I would certainly buy this all over again. ... show more

  • Good, basic, small.
Bought this as As New, but used. Whoever had it before me must have been a pretty rough kid. Many scratches across the top front bezel. I'm installing this in the top cabinet of an RV, so it's out of sight, so that doesn't bother me. Your mileage may vary. First. TINY! A very small footprint, and light. Cant be much inside this thing. Second. Decent sound, but you are not going to wake the neighbors or dim the sun. There just isn't enough meat on this bone for loud. The speakers don't amount to squat: flat response, no bottom, muddy highs. so I started there. I made a couple extra speaker leads just to try some JBL's. That made enough progress for me. This thing will be fine for RV background music use with a couple of JBL Loft 40's. If all you want is background noise, the thing is fine, but you won't be happy if you are hungry for anything but that, especially if you use the included speakers. ... show more

  • great bookshelf setup
I had very specific shelf dimensions and needed all the connectivity options but this fit perfectly. The sound is great, bluetooth works fine, the remote is good. Really no complaints except it would be cool if there was a 3.5mm jack on the rear instead of / in addition to the front. That's not worth taking away a star :-) ... show more

  • AMAZING VALUE!!
If you are an "audiophile" on a budget, this is the sound system for you. Simple to hook up, put in a CD sit back and just soak in the sound. I have been looking in vane for a system for our master bathroom, yes master bath, so that when I wash my hair and it takes for ever to blow dry I have music with great sound to make the time go by faster. I tried the BOSE WAVE for 3 times the money, but sadly not very good sound. This stereo is compact, nice to look at, but the sound quality will blow you away for the money. And yes has an EQ to boot!!! A good one at that. So glad I did my homework at Amazon to find this. !!! ... show more

  • Good sound, good value, not perfect, but overall good.
I have been on the hunt for a small stereo for my son's room. The criteria were good sound quality, CD player, Bluetooth (optional) and small form factor. Since boom boxes aren't really a thing anymore a shelf or micro system seemed like a good choice. In the price range of this stereo, most competing products had very poor sound quality. I had tried a Toshiba boom box and the sound was so awful, I immediately boxed it back up and had a return processed in 20 min. Yuck. This device (for the price mind you) passes the good sound quality test. Many similar devices have harsh midrange sound, and either tinny highs or nonexistent highs. Bass is hit or miss on many, usually a miss, but it's tough to get balanced sound out of something this inexpensive. While the sound is good, it's not great; I believe this has a lot to do with the speaker construction. First off, the cabinets are very thin and light--no surprise at this price point. They look as anonymous as possible and honestly they look rather cheap up close. There is a single driver in the cabinet, looks to be about 5.5" which must do the job of all sound reproduction. While the covers are not removable, it's pretty easy to see through the mesh with a bright light. What appears to be missing is a bass vent which seemed odd because the bass did not sound muffled or dampened; in fact, bass response is quite good despite the cheap look and feel of the speaker. However, there is a bass port hidden behind the mesh which means it's in the front of the speaker. Maybe not a problem, there's nothing saying that a small speaker can't have the bass vent in the front (although usually small speakers have them in the rear). What is a problem is that at medium volume, the air pressure vibrates the mesh which rattles against the grille frame. It's not TERRIBLE but there is indeed a slight buzz that is indeed audible. Additionally, the speakers themselves don't look like they belong with the stereo; for a similar volume cabinet, they could have been designed to match the size and shape of the stereo unit itself. I suppose these are the details lost when operating on a budget. Mids are reasonably well represented but sometimes have that paper cone effect where some frequencies can be a little harsh; highs are acceptable. There are four EQ modes, jazz, pop, rock, and classical; if you've used a stereo of this sort, you'll be familiar with how the modes change the sound (that is, set it to jazz and never touch it again). The CD player (however unpopular those are these days) performs adequately; I had purchased a similar Samsung stereo that has an extremely loud CD player mechanism. It's so loud that I had to place some thin foam under the cabinet as one could hear the motor sounds at moderate volumes--very irritating. This unit does not suffer the same issue of a noisy CD mechanism, but it's not the quietest I've ever heard. With the volume set at 5, the CD player will be louder than the music it's playing. Bluetooth is unremarkable, it connects easily and has a good range of about 20 feet through some walls before cutting. The one feature that I found conspicuously absent is a sleep timer. Even the cheapest of the cheap typically include this feature and I'm quite surprised there is nothing here. Given that this will be used in a bedroom, I'm partially tempted to return it and keep searching, but I'm not sure if I feel like packing up yet another stereo to go back. In all, it gets three stars for better than expected sound quality in this price bracket, but loses out on two for the cheap speaker design/build and the lack of a sleep timer. ... show more
