I had experienced a hard drive failure with a laptop recently, so after some research I decided to try a cooling pad. This one is nice--I like how quiet it is, and it's lightweight so it's easy to move around the kitchen table when I need to. At first, it seemed like mine was different from the one I bought my wife [although both are exactly the same model, bought from the same company at the same time]. Hers would automatically shut off when she closed her laptop lid, but mine would keep running after I closed mine. Then I wondered if it is supposed to run until a certain temperature is detected--I don't know. But now mine seems to behave exactly as hers does--shutting off when closing the laptop lid. This works way better than I would have ever expected. I have a small laptop that was overheating while playing games, and I was looking for a smaller cooling pad. I read through the reviews and took a shot at this one. Well, it's AMAZING. My laptop is cool to the touch, and it's shocking from how hot it used to get. I can game just fine now! And it's super quiet. The first time it came on I saw the lights and was waiting for a whir from the fans to start up, and had to really look at it to realize it was actually already running. Using to cool my Netgear Nighthawk X6S router. It was running quite warm so I purchased this to help cool it. The fans plug conveniently in to the USB port on the router and I can feel very little heat now coming from the router. Well worth the cost to protect my investment made in the router.

    • Does the job, for lunch money.
My MBP 13 is maybe 10F cooler on average with this unit than with the cooler it replaced. This unit is lighter and smaller than the old one, and the USB power cord for the fans appears to be sturdier. The USB power connector supplies a piggy-backed USB socket to replace the one it consumes, a thoughtful feature. The edges of the pad are thin enough that medium size binder clips can be used for cable management. The blue fan lights are dopey, of course, but they are blocked by the laptop and so do not become annoying. The bottom of the unit needs a recess for the power cable so that the unit does not rest on the cable when the feet are not extended. The fans pull air from underneath the laptop and expel it into your lap -- it really should be the other way, pulling air from underneath and blowing it over the bottom of the laptop. But this way does work. ... show more

    • Finally, no more overheating & crashing Dell 1525 laptop!
I recently bought one of these fans to use w/my Dell 1525 laptop. The laptop itself is new (to me), it replaces another 1525 that was having many problems so I decided to replace it with a similar model I found on eBay. Uunfortunately, I started having problems with the new laptop crashing the day I got it. After a little research, I realized it was crashing due to overheating. I'm disabled and it's much easier for me to use my laptop while it's still in it's carrying case, just open up the case and the laptop and boot up. That was never an issue with my other 1525 but this newer machine doesn't like it, it crashes after about an hour of use. I noticed in the system log messages saying something about CPU 0 shutting down to prevent damage. My brother recommended one of these fans, said his son had one and it worked great. I've been using the fan a few days now and I'm really impressed with it. It was only $20 but has decent build quality and is so quiet and seems pretty powerful. I can feel the air blowing up around the edges of the case. The fan is also very lightweight and thin, I can still zip closed the carrying case with the fan and laptop still inside. Another cool feature is the USB female connector, piggybacked to the male connector. I highly recommend this fan for anyone having problems with overheating electronics, be it a laptop, media player or whatever! ... show more

    • Best carrying around laptop cooler.
I have bought 6 laptop coolers. Dumped 2. This is my favorite among all 6 I have bought. It is very thin. Almost silent. Very light. Easy to carry. The wind is kind of weak, although sufficient for my very hot old MacBook Pro. Maybe not good enough for gaming laptops. It has a flat top which does not provide any space between itself and the bottom of laptop. If your laptop has nothing between its bottom and the surface underneath, you better stick something under your laptop just like I did. I stuck 4 small pieces of furniture pad under my MacBook Pro. It provides sufficient space to allow air to flow through and cool the laptop. If you need a laptop cooler to carry around, this is probably the best choice. ... show more

I got this for my Asus router to keep it cool since it was getting pretty hot under load and it works great. It doesn't put out a tremendous amount of air, but it does keep the air moving and its very quiet, so that's a plus. I wish there was a switch to turn the LEDs off, but they're mostly covered by the router. ... show more

    • Very quiet and very effective
I run a laptop as my pfSense router and, for some reason, the latest updates are putting more of a load on my CPU. This is pushing the CPU temps in the high 50C and even up to the mid 60s. I got this cooling pad to hopefully bring down the temps on my PC. I've been using it for a week and it works FANTASTIC! Not only has it brought my CPU temps down to between 49-53C but it even keeps the laptop cool even under load. The large fans cover almost the entire bottom of the laptop - this may not sound like much, but other cooling fans just cooled the middle of the laptop (nowhere near my CPU). I like the fact the stand can be put on an angle to allow more air flow underneath it. Overall, I am very impressed with this product. ... show more
