The pliers in this tongue and groove set are solid and appear to be very well made. I compared the 10-inch plier with my old "classic blue" tongue and groove plier. While I didn't take out a micrometer for measurements, in my side-by-side visual comparison, any differences were pretty subtle. Metal thickness, jaw length, adjustability, tool grooves --- everything seemed pretty comparable. I chose the "dipped" handle coating since I was familiar with it on my "old blue" and it has been easy to clean and offers a nice grip. The plier set arrived with some sort of protective lubricant on the polished surfaces -- all nicely done. After wiping that protective coating off, I did run the jaws back-and-forth several times and lubricated the pivot points a bit -- just as a preventative, not that anything was bad. This is a pretty impressive set and should meet most folks' needs for a long time... and at a very attractive price point. If you need 'em, these are good ones. ... show more

4/5. Probably great for homeowners, but for commercial/industrial construction it is subpar. Pros- Jaws seem to be high grade, at the same angle and a little wider than the ChannelLock brand. The steel after a week of heavy use is holding up, the teeth are all fine. Cons- the grip slipped/stretched out within a week. The rivet, or swivel point has a threaded end that comes loose and has to be tightened but not too tight or you can't shift between the grooves easily. ... show more

Not a good quality. I had my 1st chance to really try them and the jaws slipped from the channel into the next channel so I had to use an older pair of channel locks to grip without slipping channels.

Needed to replace the fill valve on my Toto Drake. My channel locks were way too long to fit the space to remove the nut. The 6" and the 8" inch from this set reach into the space. Used both. The 8" to loosen the nut and the 6" to get it to where I was able to remove by hand. Installing the new valve, hand tightened then finished with the 8". This set looks to be perfect for the small jobs that pop-up around the house. I wouldn't use them for heavy duty daily jobs. ... show more

Great product for the price. I am a plumber so I use channel locks a lot and these are pretty good. Not the greatest channel locks but if your on a budget they will do.
