  • Great Game! Hopefully the start of a new wave of co-op experiences.
Platform For Display: Xbox One Edition: Gold
Awesome Game! Huge interesting open world. Good balance of playability with realism for such a large world. The best part is the co-op, it is hard to find a game for three of to play where we can hop in, attack situations any way we choose at whatever pace we choose and still have it be engaging and rewarding. You can have a team of up to 4. To have my buddy drop me off on a ridge from a helicopter on one side of town as another is skydiving onto another side and he flies off to yet another infiltration point while we scout the place is a lot of fun. Sniping, stealth creeping, diversions, rolling through town with a buddy on the mounted gun as another takes advantage of the chaos. A good set of vehicles to navigate the huge world. And hopefully other developers take note and make more co=op friendly games like this that aren't arena based or small scale. Cons: As with any game this size, there are some bugs and glitches, but not any more then other well polished games. Also have some wants like being able to use binoculars from vehicles, throwing a rope from a helicopter, etc. Driving physics could be better. Spotting and rendering for long range shots is annoying. ... show more

  • Pre-Ordered, not disappointed.
Platform For Display: Xbox One Edition: Gold
Good: Tactical gameplay. Weapon customization. Massive map. Smooth(ish) online play. Bad: Driving and vehicle damage feels off. Some missions are impossible w/out online play. Review: After playing the beta for the game, I immediately pre-ordered this game. The option to use stealth or brute force is beautifully integrated into the game. Guns and combat is predictable, making the game as easy or hard as the player wants. The variety of weapons and customizability is extremely satisfying. Controls in this game are well thought out and leave little to complain about. The map is massive, full of objects to pick up and places to explore. Unlike some games, places do regenerate with hostile forces. This isn't a problem if attention isn't drawn on the player (although loosing heat is fairly easy). As this is designed for online game play, it exceeded my expectations with short loading times and minimal lag between players. Because the map is so large, it is best to fast travel, but when going short distances (or to un-explored areas) driving and flying feels particularly heavy... I personally feel that it could be re-worked, but ubisoft seems to like this vehicle engine (watchdogs has the same issue). ... show more

  • Intuitive and extremely large open world. A must have.
Platform For Display: Xbox One Edition: Gold
Wildlands is a fantastic game. I love how huge the open world is, there is nothing like it. With tons of weapons, gear, clothing, etc... to customize your character with, it's hard to get bored. A must have if you enjoy shooters and intuitive games. I only see great things from Ubisoft and Ghost Recon from here on out. It does get a bit repetitive at times, I suggest trying different ways to take out enemies and infiltrate bases to mix things up. ... show more

  • The New Ghosts
Platform For Display: Xbox One Edition: Gold
I played the original Ghost Recon on PC all those years ago and I this game makes me feel more like real Special Forces than any of the previous titles. In GR:Wildlands you and your small team are inserted into a hostile country to assist native forces in overthrowing an oppressive drug cartel that has effectively taken control of the government. You have only what you carry in: a drone, some night vision goggles, and a few basic weapons; everything else has to be found on your own. While previous GR titles focused more on first-person tactical realism and conventional warfare, Wildlands is more asymmetric and more like what the modern US Army's SF teams actually do. You'll need to think smart, cooperate with local forces for support, and stay mobile to accomplish your objectives. So, does this mean it isn't a "Ghost Recon" game? Not in the same vein as its predecessors, certainly - it has more in common with Mercenaries or Just Cause, but with more added emphasis on stealth and tactical gameplay instead of the ridiculous set pieces of those games. It feels like a fresh take on the series and I don't think that's a bad thing. You're less Future Soldier and more boots-on-ground Tier One operator, with more freedom but less high tech gadgets. The actual gameplay is why this game only gets four stars. It is definitely better played as part of a co-op, as your AI teammates in solo campaign are rather dull and not very helpful other than their Synch Shot ability. There are lots of glitches and weird gameplay moments, such appearing to run alongside a helicopter instead of riding in it or your rebel support just not working at all. Despite all the different vehicles in this game, you can't store or customize any of them. The voice acting is a little below par, sometimes coming across effectively (I like how the female Ghost says, "Must have been someone else. We were never there" with appropriate malice behind the words) and other times dull and lifeless (Most of the interrogations or your character trying to speak Spanish). Character customization is a high point with tons of options for weapons and appearance. However, you can't save weapon loadouts the same way you can save outfits, so you'll have to take frequent tactical pauses to swap for a 40mm underbarrel if you like the look of the Magpul AFG instead, rather than just having two loadouts of the same weapon. Main story missions are pretty varied but the side missions will get repetitive fairly quickly, and the Rebel Radio ones are especially annoying since the radio can take all of a light sneeze before being destroyed. I didn't really have a problem with the vehicle controls (on console) but they take some getting used to, especially with the APC. Helicopter controls allow for some awesome low-to-the-deck high speed flights but don't expect to do any landing on rooftops without a rudder control (like GTA V's RB and LB to rotate around the axis of the main rotor). Overall, this game is fun and addicting, packed full of content (some of it repetitive), best played with friends, and feels more like the sequel to Mercenaries we never got mixed in with the stealth and planning of older Tom Clancy games. ... show more

  • Very happy with this game so far
Platform For Display: Xbox One Edition: Gold
Very happy with this game so far. It is alittle bit of a grind fest, but the living world around you gives you alot to do. Now no, I don't have umpteen hundred hours and maxxed out my level, I play it for 30min to an hr or so, and it's still fun and new to me. I can see it might get old, but with this 'Gold' edition and the dlc's coming it'll hopefully be just as fun with that stuff. Def worth a buy. Good happy gaming! ... show more
