Updated review. I’m sorry folks my prior review was unsatisfactory in error. Evidently there is a specific little setting indicator to the west of the dial. Typically it would be North. I didn’t read the directions or bother inspecting as I was in a hurry as I usually am in the morning and set the number north/straight up as that is typical for all the other toasters I have had. Lesson learned read instruction manual regardless/be aware. This said I would still suggest not setting it higher than between 1 to 3. As I tried cooking my third bagel at 1 where the indicator is and it turned out OK. ... show more

Our old toaster finally died. I bought this to replace it and at the time, there wasn’t a single negative review. Well I agree with some comments but bottom line is it works fine, toasts evenly, and matches our other stainless and black appliances. I was lucky that it arrived undamaged as it is not shipped in an amazon shipping box with protective padding. The stainless sides clean as easily as you would a stainless refrigerator or other stainless appliances. Package was delivered in original Packaging and it was visibly damaged I’m several places. I’m surprised the toaster was not damaged. The toaster makes one side darker than the other and sometimes doesn’t toast the whole surface of the bread. I’m still trying to figure out the settings for white bread and grain bread. I’d give it 10 stars. It toasters perfectly. Looks really nice on the counter. It has a small tray on the bottom you slide out that collects the crumbs. It was going to get a toaster oven, but so glad I got just a toaster instead. Love it! Easy to keep clean too!
