Only thing is it comes with a small screwdriver to lock it up BUT no place to keep the screwdriver with the gauge tool (which in my case would easily become lost). Great for cutting angles and odd shapes when putting down flooring, which is why I purchased. Could be a little sturdier. The lock on it is good and holds the measurement in place firmly, but when tracing the line, it is not a smooth outline. Each finger causes just a little bump. I had bought this type of tool years back but it was too small (only about 7 inches wide). This one is 10 inches wide. Another nice thing about this one is that it locks by a lever on the side so that it holds the shape as I trace the curve onto the material that I am trying to cut. My old one did not have this feature and it would always move a little as I trace the curve onto the material to be cut. This one is a keeper. I have bought two of these to go to family members who do a lot of carpentry work and building. I have an an opportunity to have tried it out, and found it incredibly easy to use and cut something out with great precision.

Nice product for projects that don't require extreme precision. The sampling "pins" are quite large which reduces the smooth textured lines required by some projects. Very small pins would result in smoother, more accurate detail. For the price, this is nice for certain projects, but is not as accurate as you might need. Just saying. ... show more

Very easy to use. I expected the granularity of the resulting shapes to be finer, but obviously it cannot be 100% smooth with this model type (I guess some kind of mold that can be hardened and softened back and forth would be ideal, but such material may not exist or not be practicable). I do wish they had just used screws with hand adjustable knobs to fine-tune the tension instead of including a separate mini tool that can easily get lost. ... show more
