  • Excellent value—go buy one.
I picked a Green/Cream Timex Weekender Oversized Chronograph up on Prime Day for significantly less than what it costs to take my family to the movies. It is an excellent value for the money. I agree with most of the positive comments here—the watch is very distinctive and punches way above its weight in terms of initial impression and quality. I can't speak for the longevity of the mechanism, but out of the box, all features work perfectly. I did have to calibrate the stopwatch out of the box, however, which took all of 10 seconds. A few other notes: - Most importantly, this watch is thicker than I expected. I own watches thicker than this one, but the Weekender Chronograph does have "tuna can" styling. It looks balanced on the side with the buttons, but the side without strikes me as a bit large. I have thin wrists, so I am sure that is making the watch look larger. It's not huge, but if Timex dropped 2mm's from its size, i think it would be a huge styling home run. - I have seen other reviews comment on problems with the stopwatch function and the large second hand not moving properly. It seems that they don't understand how the chronometer works, and that they need to come up on the learning curve. I have another chronometer watch that works exactly the same way. - If I aggressively shake the watch, I can get the fractional second hand to move a very slight amount—not an amount that would lead to inaccuracy, but it is still noticeable with scrutiny. I imagine there is just some play in the mechanism there, which I guess is to be expected at this price point. It's something to watch for deterioration. - My example is completely silent without the chronometer running. In this "normal" mode, I have to jam it against my ear to hear it tick. I think most of the Timex weekenders chronometers are like this—the "standard" versions are apparently loud. The chronometer function does produce some ticking sounds that are more audible, but nothing that I can hear from more that 3 feet away. - My watch came with full retail packaging and instructions. Others seem not to have gotten this packaging. - In low light, the silver hands can be difficult to read. Indiglo obviously addresses that, but I could see that being an issue for some. It is much less of a problem than I expected based on comments I read here, but I understand where they are coming from. - The lume on the watch hands is more or less silly. It does work for a little bit, but it seems repetitive with Indiglo. I also think it takes away from the styling of the watch. - My indiglo function does not light up between the bottom of the 28 minute and 32 minute markers. I'm not sure if this is by design or a quality issue, but it is very, very minor and I did not notice it for over 2 hours of playing with the watch. If you drew a line through the "18" that is below the 6, the area below the line does not light up—really not a big deal. - The green strap on the cream watch is fine. Nothing special and very neutral. Its more olive colored than I expected—with some light showing off an emerald cast. It's relatively thin, which I like, and the olive/cream definitely gives it a military feel. I do think this version begs for a distressed leather dark brown NATO strap, but that's personal preference. - The print on the watch seems to shift between a black and midnight blue color depending on the lighting. If you wanted to go with navy or blue themed strap, I am sure that the watch would pick that up well. - I have no idea how a brass watch will hold up. I don't know if it is some kind of white brass alloy or if it is plated. All in, this is a major value at its price, and you will find watch aficionados constantly pointing to this as an outstanding example of how fine timepieces do not need complicated or expensive. If you have read this far, just go buy one. ... show more

  • Good, inexpensive chronograph.
Works well. 4 stars for diffivulty at times reading white hands against white face.

  • Good looks, but shallow function.
Overall, I enjoy this watch. The look, the weight, and the design are all appealing. The strap is comfortable but feels very flimsy. Time will tell on the durability, but I have some doubts. The one major drawback to the watch is that the small gauges don't seem to be calibrated accurately. My "zero" point on the 1/20 the dial is at "2". I work in a field that requires accuracy, so even though this is a minor issue, it does make for an irritating experience. Otherwise everything functions and the watch looks good, just a slight quality control issue. Edit: After reading other reviews, and the responses from the manufacturer, and reading the manual, I was able to easily calibrate the dials on the watch. I apologize for a hasty review. ... show more

  • Great watch
Color: Tan/Dark Green
Love this watch! Such a beautiful time piece for an amazing price. I’ve been complimented on it and love wearing. The green really stands out and always catches my eyes. Compared to other watches that cost hundreds, this watch is a great value and good quality l.

  • Beautiful, but Not Without Some Minor Quirks
Color: Tan/Blue
At first sight, this watch captured my attention for various reasons. In my opinion, it's effortlessly cool and stylish. While the description says it's "unisex," I believe that it was purposely constructed on a larger scale to accommodate the majority of a male's larger features. With that said, it has a larger watch face, longer strap, etc. I didn't mind this one bit. In fact, I actually preferred it! So when it arrived in my mailbox, I don't think I was half-way up my driveway before I was tearing into the box to try it on. And it did NOT disappoint...It was every bit as beautiful as I thought it would be! Once I got in, I didn't even bother to set the watch or read the directions because I was so eager to see what it would look like on and, in my opinion, this larger timepiece looked spectacular atop my smaller wrist...loved it!! My husband even remarked how much he liked it and asked to try it on! Once I sat down to get acquaninted with my new watch, it reminded me of sitting down to dinner with a blind date. Here, I had been reading shining reviews and seeing all these great pics about this watch, but now that I was sitting down and getting to know more about the watch, I began to see some of its flaws... For starters, the band is thin, as other reviewers have mentioned. While that's not a deal-breaker for me, the overall quality of the strap (which boasts that it's genuine leather, made in India and, side note to my side note: Timex conveniently added a tag in with the watch saying that the strap would and SHOULD show wear) felt a bit flimsy and dare I say, cheap? I wasn't planning using this for my daily watch anyway, so I will remember to give the strap some TLC. I have rather small wrists for a gal, so adjusting the strap so that the watch would be fitted posed a few problems...for starters, the strap does not have an adjustable "loop?" on the band to tuck the extra slack from the strap into. It has a metal loop that is sewn into the band and remains stationary. This results in a pretty sizeable strap overhang from the absence of this non-adjustable feature. At first, this didn't bother me but then when I ran a quick errand, I noticed that the overhang started getting caught on my purse and seatbelt, among other things. Annoying, but still manageable. Another quirk about this watch is the latch/buckle that secures it to your wrist. I didn't notice it when I first put the watch on and initially adjusted it, but over time, the corner of the buckle began to dig in to my wrist. If you prefer a looser fit, I don't think you would experience this. Personally, I prefer a more fitted fit but I did manage to remedy this by loosening the band by one notch. This was a perfect solution b/c the watch's face and "supports?" (the metal pieces attached to the timepiece that then attaches to the strap) are so large, that the size of my wrist prevented it from shifting from the center of my wrist. Didn't spin, either! Timex included paperwork on the water resistance restriction, battery care and warranty in 10 different languages but NOTHING about how to set the chronograph features. They did, however, include a website which provides model-specific manuals to help set their watches. Little bit of extra work, but saves paper consumption in the long run and won't get lost over time, so kudos to Timex! All in all, it's a beautiful watch. And while there are some quirks that I felt they were worth mentioning, I can work around them if it means keeping this chic piece! ... show more
