  • Fool me once....
Color: Black/Gray/Orange Accent
I have been a fool repeatedly. Over the past 10 years I have purchased about 6 Ironman watches and every time the band breaks. The watches have always been great with all the functionality that I need but the bands always deteriorate or in the last case don't with stand a very hardy workout. The name Ironman is definitely not the proper name for these watches. Fool me no more ... show more

  • Great watch, been wearing one for decades
Color: Black/Gray/Orange Accent
I have been wearing some version of this watch for 25 years now. The watches are great, the batteries last forever, the indiglo/light is super easy to read (along with the reflectiveness for low light. I don't even think about water, and have definitely worn this watch snorkeling, water doesn't touch it. This would be a 4.5 stars if allowed; the only thing keeping it from being a 5 star is the band gets loose, and breaks after a few years. usually the part that holds the "flap" first, then the part with the holes. You can buy replacement bands/ I usually just replace the watch because it's $20 difference and saves me the hassle. Also as another commenter said, the numbers and letters tend to wear off; which is okay, but the time they do you know what the buttons do. I would wholeheartedly recommend this watch to anyone without hesitation, despite the band thing. ... show more

  • Quality issues...and beware that some of them have dark faces
Color: Gray/Black/Negative
Click through the various pics when selecting band color, etc and make sure you notice that some have faces that are dark and kinda hard to see. Some may like the darker face; some not. Years ago I was a Casio G-shock guy. They seemed bombproof and just amazing. Then after it finally died, I bought another one (really pricey one!) that within days was malfunctioning. So I returned it for another one...which also malfunctioned within days! :O All of my settings would just out-of-the-blue be scrambled to the wrong time, date, alarms gone, etc. It was as if the watches had done a factory reset on their own or something. So that led me to the Timex Ironman. It was awesome! Eventually after I had cosmetically nearly destroyed one after years of abuse, I decided to get a new one. Literally within less than 48hrs, it did the same thing the Casio G-shocks did! It had reset itself to the year 2016, times were all wrong, etc. So I just now took it back and swapped it for a new one. My own conclusion is that both Casio and Timex have some quality issues. If you happen to get a good one, it will probably serve you extremely well for years to come! But it would be a good idea to keep the receipt for awhile until you've figured out that yours is one of the good ones. ... show more

  • The Classic Ironman is still the BEST!
Color: Black/Gray/Orange Accent
Great watch! This is my 3rd one of these and it doesn't look like Timex is ever going to stop making them. It's still their #1 best seller and my favorite of all the Ironman variants. If you want to have a nice looking Watch that you can beat up and not ruin, you could do a lot worse than this one. Pros: • Perfect Size for Working Out. Doesn't rub (and "BEEP") on the wrist band of my Weight lifting Gloves • Has multiple Alarms to remind you to pick up your kids, take them to Gymnastics, etc. Very handy for Parents • Great Indiglo Back Lighting that actually works • 2 Time Zones easily Toggled with a big Gray Button on the front. Great for switching between Daylight Savings and Back again • Battery lasts over 5 years There really aren't any "Cons". It does exactly what I want a Watch to do. If you get a Warehouse Deal (they always have them) you can get one for 24 bucks with PRIME Shipping and the only thing wrong with it is the packaging is marred in some way. I also kind of like that it's an American company and I like that it's a Timex. It's a humble, reliable, hard working brand. I'm proud to wear it. ... show more

  • writing titles is the hardest part of a review
Color: Gray/Green
I use this watch primarily for laps in the pool, and it works great, but I do have a few issues. One confusing aspect is that the counter shows what lap you are on, not how many laps you've completed. In other words, when you hit the start/lap button, you have completed zero laps, but you are on Lap 1. The display shows Lap 01, not Lap 00. So if you've completed 24 laps, your watch will display Lap 25. Also, when you hit the lap button, the lap number doesn't go up immediately. So your watch shows Lap 01, you hit the lap button, and it still shows Lap 01, telling you you've completed one lap, and won't automatically roll over to Lap 02 for about 10 seconds or so. This makes listening to the beep imperative to ensure you've hit the button so you don't have to keep checking your watch to see if the lap number increased. (Make sure you are completely underwater before you hit the button on your pool turn. If you submerge while you are hitting the button, you won't be able to hear the beep.) If you don't know how the watch works, your watch will say Lap 18 (or whatever), you hit the button, and wonder why it still says Lap 18, and think the counter isn't working. Just remember that when you hit the button, whatever lap number it displays at that time is how many laps you have completed. Another irritant is that it will keep switching between the lap number and the hundredths of a second every few seconds. What is the point of this? I know the stopwatch is running because the seconds go up, but then I'm forced to stare at it until it switches over if I want to know what lap it is. So as a general rule, I don't check how many laps I've completed until the turn, not in the middle of the lap. The start/lap button is on the front of the watch, which helps to prevent hitting another button accidentally (when you squeeze the watch to engage a button on the side, you are putting pressure on the other side of the watch, which can engage another button and mess up your data). You can't extend your arms on a pool turn while you are hitting the button, but it's not that big of a deal. Much better than forgetting what lap you are on. It's a very comfortable watch. I have small wrists for my size, but it's not too big. And I like the way it looks. Overall, my complaints can be mostly overcome once I know how the watch works. I am very pleased with the watch, especially for the $30 price, and wouldn't hesitate to buy it again, and would recommend it to friends. Therefore, the 5 star review. ... show more
