  • Better than a Rolex
Color: Blackout
This is probably the best watch that I have ever owned. I bought this watch to reduce my dependance on my iPhone. It's awesome. I had one when I was a kid and now, as I approach 40, I can't help but think it's only gotten better. Reasons I love this watch. 1. You don't need to charge it. 2. Without pressing any buttons, you can see the day of the week, date and time. 3. You have a couple of alarms. They will wake you up. I was shocked that I was able to have an alarm function without being able to name it, specify a super special tone and have total flexibility over repeating. Turns out that I'm not a unique and special butterfly and I don't need all the "cushion" that I am made to believe I need from my iPhone. This think is rock solid and just works. ... show more

  • Timex Ironman Rugged - A Total Winner
Color: Blackout
I have an older generation of the Ironman 100 lap series. It is hard to navigate, and the functions were not easy to use. This new generation of Ironman takes easy navigation and ease of use to another level. This is a negative display but I do not have any issues seeing the time with the large font. This watch is about the same size to the Casio Baby G series, at about 45mm in diameter. However the large font is a plus. Extremely easy to see the time and date. Since this is a negative display, the Indiglo function works a bit better, because it lights up the actual digits instead of the background. A bonus function on this watch is the ability to set up up to 15 reminders label as : Bill, Appointments, Anniversary, Trip, Holiday Girft, Game, Doctor, Birthday. The standard Timer and Chronometer functions are easy to set up and navigate. The watch can keep track of three different time zones. The resin strap seems to be an improvement compared to previous generations, but only time will tell if it will stand the test of time (my 13 year old Ironman band just disintegrated) This watch is extremely comfortable, all back with negative display makes it very good looking piece to wear. For a sub $40 watch, this watch is a total winner. ... show more

  • The Perfect Watch.
Color: Blackout
Well, although I agree with some other reviewers about the watch's legibility in low light, it must be taken into consideration that this is specifically a 'blackout' type tactical watch where maximum visibility isn't required. That said, I have no problem (even as a glasses wearer) seeing the time without the aid of the indiglo function. In short; if you want build quality combined with comfort and genuinely useful functions, this watch is for you. It's as tough as nails yet as comfortable and accurate as can be. 10/10. Update: 10/21/19 I can also vouch for the watch's water resistance having had it underwater several times in the Gulf of Mexico. Just remember to rinse off salt water as you would with any watch. The Ironman worked perfectly with no fogging or water intake. Brilliant watch. ... show more

  • Need direct, bright light to see the numbers
Color: Black/Yellow Accent
I'm a huge fan of Timex ironman watches. Until this one, my one my complaint has been tha the band aren't replaceable and I have to replace them even when they keep on ticking after years. This model, though, has a black background with mid-to-dark gray numbers that are impossible to see in normal light. The indigo function is great if you're willing to push a button every time you glance at your watch, but the Ironman watches with the gray background and dark letters are so much better. The black background would look cool if the letters where white or bright yellow, but the dark gray doesn't work at all. ... show more

  • Nearly impossible to see.
Color: Blackout
I've had this watch for several months now and rarely aware it. It is very hard to see the time due to the black background. You can forget seeing the time in anything but bright light. I got in the habit of instantly hitting the backlight button everytime I looked at it. Unless you are perfectly perpendicular to the face you can not see the time. ... show more

  • Returned It Immediately
Color: Blackout
I had high hopes for this watch. I like the rugged Timex sports/outdoor watches, and thought this would be a good daily work watch. Sadly, the photos on the website are completely inaccurate when it comes to the readout/display. The actual readout is fine when using the indiglow feature, but sadly that only lasts for a few seconds. When it is not lit up with the indiglow, the readout is so faint and so dim that I could not accurately read it unless the watch was within 2 feet of my face. I really liked the look and style of the watch. Sadly, Timex screwed us with a very poor readout/display, and then completely duped us by their false advertising in the photos. ... show more

  • An affordable watch that will stand up to work and abuse
Color: Blackout
I have used this watch for some time now on a security detail job and it's prefect for the kind of work I do. It has stood up to scratches and snags quite well and seems to be very resistant to water and sweat and outdoor exposure. The functions all work quite well and the face is very easy to read, especially at night with the indiglo light. The buttons seem fairly sturdy and have stood up to repeated use well. I won't buy more expensive watches for my job because they usually end up either broken or damaged due to the nature of the work I do but so far this watch has held up very well. I've gone through a few cheaper watches that were supposed to be "durable" sport watches, but this is the only one that has stood up to the rigor I usually put a watch through and not ended up either badly scratched or broken or had a band or electronic malfunction. Money well-spent considering I've probably payed much more for the other cheap watches I would have gone through in the time I've owned this one. ... show more

  • A-20-months-after-review
Color: Blackout
After 20 months of daily use, as you can see, the watch looks pretty good. It feels good, is not that big. The negative display is ok. Obviously you will get better view on a regular screen, but it is NOT hard to read, probably you will get used to it faster than you think. Indiglo great. Plenty of alarms. Good timer and chronograph function. For the price, what you get is more than fair. ... show more
