I've used an Ortleib 9L double-ended bar bag on my bike for close to a decade, and Love it. So did some kind of rodent while I was bikepacking recently, while the bag was rolled and fastened, "it", whatever it was, chewed fist-sized holes through both sides of the bag. This Ortleib bag is expensive and worth it. I was pissed. I ordered another from Ortleib to get it as fast as possible, and then later thought about trying to patch my current bag. I did a little research and found that heat-activated tape sounded like the best option. I found Tikfoam Repair Tape online. The wear and tear the bag takes at the rolled end is beyond anything duct tape could handle. The tape is hard to separate from the backing, very sticky. I applied the tape to both sides of the material. Once applied to a clean, dry surface and pressed firmly, I heated the tape with a hot air blower and pressed it all again, both sides, inside and out. I have rolled and re-rolled the bag with varying amounts of contents, again and again, working the tape. The edges are staying firmly attached, and the tape body isn't showing any wear, just the flexing back and forth. If it stays in place for the next 10 years them I'm sold. All I can say for sure is that the tape is easy enough to work with if you have someone with fingernails in the house, and that it seems very durable and waterproof. ... show more

I purchased this item to help with a rip in my pool liner. It worked for maybe 2 weeks then started coming off. Not sure if it’s because temps were in the 90’s but it’s a good tape. It held on well outside but inside the pool it lifted. I would not consider this to be 100% waterproof but then again I was dealing with a 2 foot tear from a tree that fell in my pool. Tape seems OK but the paper backing does not come off easily and constantly rips and is hard to restart. I recommend you buy a different product. It took me 2 hours to do a job that should have been 30 minutes.
