The Black Pro Mist offers all the benefits of the Pro Mist filter in a more subtle form. With this filter, highlight flares are controlled, contrast is lowered, but with less lightening of shadows for a more delicate effect and it also creates a soft light "pastel" effect. This is a very delicate effect with contained highlight flare. This Hollywood/FX filters were originally designed for the TV and Motion Picture industry, but are now available to all photographers and videographers.

Picked up hoping I would get a nice little soft light addition to some night photography. What I got was a damn vibe! Works best with lower exposures and high contrast objects, but this will be staying on my night lense for some time. Well made, holding case is a hard acrylic that you can apprecaite from Tiffen. When looking into using the Pro-Mist filters, I wasn't sure which to get. After doing some research I was able to determind that 1/4 was the sweet spot needed to bloom out highlights and soften features without losing details and sharpness. I love what the filter does to LED lights! It gives ambient lighting in low light situations and bit of a flare that really adds to an otherwise normal location shoot. For portrait photos in the daylight, it also helps to soften features without sacrificing sharpness and thus not needing to put as much time during post processing. Highly recommended! ... show more

So, sadly I didn’t receive my filter. It got lost in the mail or stolen. I’m not sure. But Amazon did assist me with credit. I ended up buying this filter in person at a local shop. It’s a great filter. It doesn’t alter the color much at all. If anything it’s the tiniest bit warmer.     • I have this filter for every lens I own.

I have this filter for every lens I own in multiple steps; 1, 2, 1/2 and 1/4. For every day shooting, 1/4 is perfect. It's the perfect strength to put on your lens before you go out and forget about it. It's not too strong, but the effect it has is noticeable. If I'm doing more stylized shoots, I might increase the strength to 1/2 or even 1 depending. 2 is the one I use less frequently, because it's very strong. However, many people don't realize you can tone down these effects in post with Contrast/Dehaze. If you're unsure of what to go with in terms of strength, just know that 1/4 is what most people go for. ... show more

I received my filter but first impression was like - why all boxes are broken. Later I took 77 mm filter and found that it's totally scratched. About 4 heavy scratches. I'm disappointed 😞
