I did a lot of research for kid smartwatches and this has been the best that I have found. The weight is very light, it counts steps, allows the child to listen to music on the watch, make FaceTime calls, phone calls, and texts. No games which would make it a bit more fun but our 9 year old loves it! It also has a great and accurate gps tracker and I feel it is a great value for the price. The watch needs a subscription to tick talk which is very affordable and has a few different options to choose from for data limits. The app/parent portal is very easy to use and watch set-up was fast and easy! I like that you can block unknown calls and texts and view the call log the child makes. ... show more

My sons have had these TickTalk 5 smart watches for over a year and they absolutely love them! They are able to stay in touch with family with both messaging and calls, and they really love the video call feature. As a parent, I wanted something to be able to track their location that also didn’t include internet access/gaming etc. and this delivers! We have had a great experience with this watch, it is great quality, reliable, easy for the kids to use, and being able to keep in contact/ knowing your child’s location when they aren’t with you is priceless.     • A bad decision that wastes money

The materials are really poor. I wouldn’t recommend buying this. Let’s start with charging. I’m not the first to mention it, but after just three weeks I was already having issues. The charging mechanism is badly designed: the contacts oxidize and the pins get stuck. I figured out I had to clean them, so I decided not to return it (that was a mistake). After three months, the SIM card cover broke off, even though it hadn’t been opened since I bought it, and the signal got noticeably worse after that. The band started cracking after about four months, and two months later it completely tore. A replacement costs $30, which is just ridiculous. The only good thing about this watch is the software, and that’s it. I honestly don’t understand how something this low-quality made it to market. Now the watch is completely useless and didn’t even last a year. I wasted $150 and should have just gotten an Apple Watch. ... show more

    • Great kids watch
We got his watch for our son's 10th birthday. It has been a big hit so far, a nice alternative to a phone which we are not quite ready to get for him. It works great and was fairly easy to set up. Service for calls and texts work well so far. The location is pretty accurate or close to accurate most of the time. Only one time in 4 months that the location was not correct or close to it. I love that you can control everything from an app on your phone. You can control who is in the contacts as well as turn all the extra features and apps on and off from the app. It also has a school mode activated through the app that turns all features off during the selected times and days which is nice to keep it from being a distraction during school. SOS mode is also on it in the case of an emergency it can still be used even in school mode there is an override. One thing with the video call is that it makes the watch get a bit hot. One other thing is to be sure that it does not get wet. It is supposed to be water resistant not water proof. If it gets wet it stops working and needs to be replaced. Customer service is quick to respond and is helpful. Overall it is a good watch and I do recommend it as a good starter watch for kids. ... show more

This is our first kid traking watch and going to be compared to JrTrack 4, this is what we currently use after our disapontment with Ticktalk 5. After doing some research we chose Ticktalk 5 for it’s accuracy, price and low monthly data plan. Ticktalk 5 was purchased in February of 2025 and we stopped using it in July of 2025. Ticktalk 5 has good user enterface app. A lot of useful functions and good control over the watch that your kid will be wearing. Tracking is good with the ability to correct the location manually. There might be a little lagging, but otherwise it’s just fine. No geofencing function, but it was not a deal-breaker. After several months of solid performance, our experience with this device was completely ruined. In June watch stopped sending a signal while our kid was away on the trip. Blaming battery discharge, we examined TickTalk 5 at home that evening and found out that the SIM card door on the bottom of the watch was broken. This prevented the SIM from connecting properly and losing signal. At this point, we used our extended warranty that was purchased for the watch and got a replacement. But only about 2 weeks after using the replacement, it had the same problem. Wach was returned immediately to Amazon for a 3rd pair replacement watch of a different color. In one week or so, the same problem with the SIM card door. At this point, we decided that this product is inherently defective by design and uses cheap materials. If you notice the problem started and repeated itself during the hot summer months. Ticktalk 5 overheats easily, starts losing battery charge, and alternately SIM card door is broken from the heat and pressure on the inside of the watch, rendering it useless as a wireless tracker. There is a need for improvement for a device priced at $128. We might consider this device when the new generation comes out. We definitely recommend an extended warranty if you plan to get TickTalk 5; you will need it. Pros: Good and accurate tracking. Nice user interface app for parents. A decent price for the watch. Blocks all text and calls that are not on the list set by parents. A big red button on the side that parents can assign any number for an emergency call. Cons: Durable looking on the front, but with cheap and fragile plastic parts on the back. The battery and the watch itself can’t handle hot weather, making it almost a climate-specific device. No geofencing function Cheapest data plan offered at $9.99, but in reality, you pay $11.20 Never was able to transfer pictures/videos from the watch to the phone using the Wi-Fi function in the app. This is also the only available way. Any activity such as picture taking, video calling, or music listening will drain the battery, making it useless. The protection screen is only by Ticktalk, and it is overpriced. ... show more

    • Great watch for my 5 year old
We’ve had the TickTalk 5 for about six months, and overall we’ve really liked it. My 5-year-old son loves it, and our favorite features are the GPS, Do Not Disturb during school, the timer, and that he can only call or receive calls from approved contacts. It gives us peace of mind without giving him a phone. We recently had a water damage issue, but customer service has been responsive so far. I’ll update this review if anything changes. ... show more
