Tried to make jerky and the time didn't coincide with the doneness of the meat. I used the suggested time/temp in booklet that came with it, but it wasn't right. Did two batches of peaches. First we followed the instructions. Then we tried several different temps. But regardless of our efforts to try everything, the only peaches that dried nicely were the back third. Everything else either turned black or didn’t dry or both. Which was very weird. I bought this brand due to rankings. That was a mistake. It only handles 12lbs which is for me not a lot for 12 trays. Very odd how to turn on. I have to turn on light first for the unit to turn on. We now get to performance. There is no way to produce quality jerky when the device will not cook evenly. I was really excited about this purchase but left in utter disappointment. I do this for a living so I know dehydrators and this one besides its”dual fans and 1300 watts” is garbage. ... show more

I'm an avid camper/hiker and have been making my own outdoorsy lightweight snacks/food for years now. I had an Excalibur before this that I believe had fewer shelves. It seems to be on par with my old unit and works as well. I like this a bit better shelf-wise than my older Excalibur unit because for a few reasons specifically because the trays are stainless steel and, wait for it, dishwasher safe! I used to hate having to clean my old shelves because they were plastic and (maybe silicone) a pain to have to clean manually in a tub or large bucket. This is a cinch because I can just toss all the shelves into the dishwasher and set it and forget it. Love it. Other than that it is basically a light convection oven that only goes up to about 165 F which is what you need to dry out most dehydrator applications. The fan moves the air around and you get dried goodness. I also quite like the digital led display which is large and highly visible. Lastly, its pretty aesthetic in a stainless steel outside so it looks pretty sharp in my kitchen. 8/10 I would recommend it. I hope this review is helpful. ... show more
