Very soft. My couch is big (wide, tall, and deep) and most slip covers don’t fit. This does, but the foam to hold it in place doesn’t stay that well once you sit on it. It’s a little lighter/shinier, and the pile is a little higher than I expected, so you can see hand marks and sometimes butt prints. I tried to attach a close-up picture as an example of the material, but I don’t think the picture quality shows it. I think I was expecting a velveteen and this is closer to stuffed animal? But again, soft and comfortable for us and the dogs and it machine washes (the most important part, because of the dogs), but I’d probably take it off before company came over.

The material is not velvet or velvet-like. It's more of a very low density polyester plush, similar to that of a cheap stuffed animal. If you actually sit on your sofa, it would be matted within a month. And if anyone's familiar with the appearance of a well-loved stuffed animal's matted, clumpy appearance... The gray is more a slate blue. If you have any true grays or warm grays in the room, they will make it look straight blue.

I recently bought a new loveseat and matching chair. But I have a cat that likes to claw at things so I bought this cover for each seat. It works great, fits well, is well made, looks nice, and it seems my cat prefers to LAY on it rather than SCRATCH it!

A great cover, but with my child and I sitting on the couch, the cover moves A LOT. I’m fixing it sooo many times a day. Wish it would stay in place better. Otherwise, it’s great quality.

Really like the softness of the cover. Thick elastic at the ends are nice. Only negative is that it doesn’t stay tucked on my couch by the arms. I am not sure if it is because the couch is long (I did use the dimensions per the description and chart). Color is beautiful and true to description.
