  • Great filament and value after its dialed in
I gave this 5 stars because its not the manufacturers fault this is not plug and play. It's not regular PLA and needs tweaking just like any different plastic you use for the first time. I have three printers of different brands. All three have different settings to print the same PLA. So..nothing is apples to apples when extruding plastic. I had several failed and frustrating test prints before I got it dialed in. The result is a really cool organic looking filament so I'm hoping I can help you! And my procedure was a little different than what I read here. The first layer is CRITICAL and a PAIN. I had several fails with goopy extrusion and no adhesion. The filament is THICK and does not extrude like regular PLA. And yes, you really need to use a .06 nozzle and it needs to be HOT. Here were my final settings for success: I created a new profile just for this filament because it was so different. 1. Reduce overall print speed from full to 65-70% speed. It needs more time to extrude properly. 2. Print bed was 60c 3. I printed at .02mm layer height 4. Use a BRIM to clean out the nozzle and get things flowing 5. First layer was at 25% speed, 175% layer height, 165% layer width, 240c. This FINALLY laid a beautiful and clean first layer. 6. Second layer was 230c, regular settings. 7. All other layers were 200C My first successful exterior print was at 210c layers and looked nice, but had more strings than I like. Instead of tweaking ooze control, I just dropped it to 200c. This is what worked for me so give it a try if you are pulling your hair out. Wood PLA is really beautiful and not like cheap toys. I have used more expensive stuff that doesn't look as good. Good luck! ... show more

  • The White PLA is Perfection!
Recently decided to start trying out some new brands of filaments and I think I found my new go-to! Pros: - I don't know how it does it, but this one sticks to the bed better than any other PLA I've ever used! - Almost no variation in filament width (good thing!). - Very clean and strong layers. I do a temperature tower with each new brand of filament and this one did best at 195C. I also break that temperature tower to see how strong it was and for whatever magical reason, this one was much stronger than the last PLA I was using... and I mean like at least twice as strong. I have no idea how but it is. Very happy about that! :D - Nicely wound (I had trouble with other brand spools, this one's very clean). - No clogs so far... though I AM using a 0.8mm nozzle for almost all of my prints, which is far less likely to clog. I'll update this review if it clogs when I switch to my 0.4mm nozzle again. Cons: - NONE so far! Overall VERY happy with this filament and at this price, I think I found my new go-to filament :) At least for white PLA. I'll try other colors later. ... show more

  • Skepticism initial thoughts
Color: Black-5kg
The media could not be loaded. 5kg spool, after reading the reviews I was really hesitant about the filament I do know of the process how it's made and all. So the batch I have #05300220622 PLA Black even though the manufacture is from China I do not have a proper holder or feeder for this size so what I've done is respool the holders I had. So far I would say the strength wise is strong like overture of hatchbox there were no breaks or snapping when I would respool my own holders to make them more neat and tight. So far the prints I had were astounding quality is better by far. As for jams none whatsoever. I do occasionally purge a small amount other than that it is by far top notch as for this batch i cannot say for other batches since this is the first 5kg I've bought for the price it's affordable and cheap compared to the other 5kg brands. I'll include some photo as a comparison. Left will be overture and right will be this brand. As you can see the overture is shiny but leaves alot of layer reflection compared to this 5kg brand its more of a matte like finish layers have been more evenly distributed. You can definitely feel the texture finish as for the part it's a prop weapon from the game Apex Legends the Havoc rifle I have yet do any post process work as I am still getting all the prints made. Overture pla is hit or miss some are a good batch some are not the one I have the lines snapped so far from the line for this brand it moves at ease on NY Ender 3 S1 not the pro model sadly there weren't any at the time. But so far so good. I'll have to edit this feedback as in its only the 3rd day I'm using this product. ... show more

  • Refuses to stick to bed
Color: White-5kg
the first few prints were great! after my last print everything started going wrong, i made absolutely 0 changes to my settings, bed, or extruder and now it refuses to print properly or even adhere to the bed, i have a creality glass bed and use a glue stick for the extra adhesion. however, this stuff refuses to adhere to the bed at all even with the glue. All it wants to do is stick to the nozzle. it's also clogged my hot end twice. I highly advise to stay away. Edit: After about 2 hours worth of tuning and troubleshooting my printer, I finally got it to print moderately well. Best results I've had were with print speeds dialed back to 80% and a nozzle temp of 195 with a retraction of 70 and detraction of 50. if i could give 3.5 stars I would... ... show more
