  • Everything about this steering wheel is fantastic
Style: Servo Base and Open Wheel Add On
I was only somewhat interested in racing games until I started to use this steering wheel, and it really got the heart pumping. It isn't just having a steering wheel that adds so much to the realism, it's the attention to detail. - It's the solid resistance and the satisfying click of its paddle shifters (I don't have the TH8A gear shifter) - It's the soft genuine suede. I wear biking gloves when I use the wheel because it is functional art -- and I don't want to get it dirty. - It's the solid feel. I find it difficult to describe how it feels in the hands. It has no "give", no loose parts, no light weight "plasticky" character. It feels like it would be an upgrade in almost any car. They even made the power supply look like a turbo! (see photo). This is perhaps a little over the top, but it is also fun. All the important parts are metal. The wheel looks great--much better than it does in any photos. This is a serious piece of equipment for serious driving sim enthusiasts. The wheel costs a fortune, but I can tell that it is not some overpriced piece of plastic, it just cost a lot to design and build something of this quality. There are also some not so subtle things I like about the wheel. For example, when I accelerate too quickly in my Pagini Zonda in Project:Cars, the wheel turns and feels like I am losing traction in a car. When I turn sharply, the wheel resists like you are fighting lateral G-forces (the best we can do until artificial gravity is invented), and when I crash, the wheel shows the car's anger as it turns and jerks aggressively. You had better hold on tight! Because the TS-PC wheel is so new, not many racing games support it out of the box, but most allow you to use settings from an earlier Thrustmaster wheel, or to configure the wheel on your own. I found that the only configuration I had to make, aside from assigning buttons, is to raise the sensitivity of the wheel to almost its highest level. Otherwise, the wheel shown in-game turned more sharply than the real physical wheel. I played Project:Cars the most by far. It uses the wheel better. I am fairly sure that the Slightly Mad Studios used a Thrustmaster wheel for their development because they "speak to each-other" so well. I think the next step is to use a VR headset such as the HTC Vive or Oculus Rift. Because the TS-PC has paddles, I don't think there would be any problem losing the location of your physical controls while playing (quite a problem in flight sims). Pedals are the one other accessory I highly suggest. Thrustmaster brand pedals are not required, but are probably a good idea. I used CH Pro pedals, which aren't ideal since they have very little resistance to my feet, so it took some practice to not floor it or slam on the brakes. I definitely recommend a nicer set of pedals. The Thrustmaster T3PA-PRO is available on Amazon and plugs into the wheel. I think these would provide a better driving experience, but I haven't had the opportunity to test them. The only downside that I have found regarding the wheel is that, when attached to a desk as shown in the attached photos (not bolted but set in place using the included compression arm), the steering wheel can move if pulled hard down and towards the driver. This may sound insignificant, but in an intense race it is easy to get aggressive with the wheel. Even when this happened, it never detached from the desk, but I suggest bolting it to a solid surface if this happens to you. ... show more

  • Best Wheel I've Owned So Far!
Style: Servo Base and Open Wheel Add On
Ok, so let me start off by mentioning that in a period of 3 weeks I've owned 3 wheels, this being my last stop. At first, I bought a Logitech G29 from Fry's - this feels like a toy that rattles on every corner because it's gear driven. Exchanged that for a Thrustmaster T300RS... The improvement was extremely noticeable... But, I frankly was very disappointed that the technology on this wheel is pretty old but it's being sold at a premium compared to brand new technology - a few extra and you can easily get into much newer technology. FFB was strong, but not very detailed especially with dynamic range - the ability to feel the road details AND all other feedback like the engine, kerbs, etc, all at once. Then... I saw a review of the TS-PC on YouTube where the reviewer specifically talked about dynamic range and the ability to feel all of the details... SO TRUE! Mostly I race in iRacing, AC, and PC2. The difference between a T300RS and a TS-PC is night and day. The strength is much great, and most importantly the dynamic range is like nothing the T300RS can provide. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. I was skeptical at first, asking whether I should upgrade from a T300RS to the TS-PC on a thread on Reddit, and mostly all responses said to keep the T300RS with the exception of one person who mentioned dynamic range. Very happy with my purchase, and definitely recommend to anyone looking for a good and worthwhile upgrade, without jumping into a Fanatec. ... show more

  • Comparing this to my old T500 RS it is a race-ready high performing wheel.
Style: Servo Base and Open Wheel Add On
I am a former full time streamer. I specialized in streaming simulations. Specifically driving simulations like Euro Truck Simulator and later American Truck Sim. I started out with a Logitech G27 wheel, pedals and shifter. I then moved on to the Thrustmaster RS500, shifter and pedals. I do also do racing games like Assetto Corsa. While this is not a complete set, with pedals. This standard wheel comes with paddle shift buttons and of course enough buttons on the wheel to assign to shifting. I will compare this mostly against the T500 because it is from the same company and roughly the same price. >> Smaller size: the T500 was larger physically. I no longer have it so I cannot compare directly. >> Quieter: The T500 had very loud fans inside when streaming for 12 hours or more the wheel would get hot and then the fans would get louder. This wheel is much quieter. >> Wheel swap appears easier. I never swapped the wheel on my T500 but this wheel is designed for it. If you want a non-race wheel there are a couple you can pop on the main body that will make for a nice aesthetic change. >> Performance. This is probably the biggest change for me to the T500. This wheel feels smoother. The FFB on the T500 was noisy, gritty feeling and not as responsive as I liked, that is why I got rid of it. This wheel is very smooth, when I turn down the settings in ATS it feels like a real car wheel. For that I prefer this one over my old T500. All in all I really like this wheel. I want to get a standard wheel as I am not much of an F1 racer. ... show more

  • Very nice wheel
Style: Servo Base and Open Wheel Add On
I upgraded from a g27, and this is quite a big difference. I've tried other high end wheels at friends houses, and this is definitely at the top end of non-direct drive wheels. It has more power than you could ever need, and the feedback feels very precise to me. It was also very easy to install and get working compared to my prior Logitech wheels. I bought an adapter for my g27 shifter, so still using that, and grabbed some fanatec CS pedals that plug right into USB. My only complaint is the f1 style rim does not work well for more general driving like truck simulators. ... show more
