    • Great, bright, compact 18650 light, but

I've had this light for about 3 months now and this is a nicely finished, compact, very bright light that you can charge at home, in your car, or from a portable power bank thanks to the built-in USB charging port. It accepts any protected or unprotected 18650 cell, button top or flat top. I strongly suggest using the battery that it comes with or any high quality Samsung, Panasonic, Sanyo, Sony, or LG 18650 battery, and buy it from a reputable dealer. The UI is very simple and extremely easy to learn. You have three choices of brightness at turn on. Press and hold for about 1-1.5 seconds and you get a true firefly/moonlight mode. Or one quick press and you get your last used mode from memory (low, medium, or high). Or double press and go straight to turbo mode. Once the light is on, all you have to do to cycle thru the levels of low, medium, and high, is just press and hold the button. The light is small and very bright, so it will get hot! This happens to all small, high power flashlights. There's no way around that. Well there is, but you have to go with a less powerful light or get a much larger light that can dissipate the heat that's generated. Now here's the but. My only complaint with this light is that it has no electronic lock out. So if you carry it in your pocket or put it in a carry bag, you have to, or at least should, slightly unscrew the tail cap to be safe from accidental turn on. A few things I forgot to mention. For this being considered a cool white led, it's got no hint of blueish tint to it at all. It could just be my sample, but I'd call it a bright natural white at around 5700k. In a side by side comparison, there's hardly any discernable difference between this led and the high CRI Nichia 219C 5700k led's in my Convoy S12. Even the color rendition is excellent. Also, just an added bonus, my Convoy S12 (21700 battery), my Astrolux EC01 (21700 battery) and MF01 Mini (26650 battery), my Sofirn SP31 and SP32, and my Wowtac A1S all fit in the holster that is supplied with this light. And it's also supplied with one of the largest lanyards I've ever received with a light. I don't use them, but you can easily get your hand through this one, even if you have large hands. ... show more

    • Awesome flashlight but gets warm quickly

I absolutely love this flashlight. It's the perfect size for a tactical flashlight l, compact and light enough to carry all day. I haven't put it's battery to the test but it hasn't died on me yet. It feels very durable, but again I haven't run it over with a car or anything to see just how durable. It's easy to switch brightness and you don't have to cycle through every one just to turn it off like some other flashlights. Hold the button to change brightness, one click to turn it off and on at the same brightness. Double click for maximum brightness, triple click for strobe. Press and hold while off for firefly mode. The only this I dislike it one the highest brightness it heats up in seconds and after a minute it becomes very warm. Not hot, it doesn't burn my hand, just very warm. Like those electric hand warmers. Honestly it's nice in the winter. I highly recommend this flashlight, it's absolutely worth the price. ... show more

I am not a flashlight expert. I was buying one for everyday carry for use while hunting, walking the dogs at night, odd jobs around the house etc.,...and one I could find when needed. All I have to do is look in my pocket. So, I researched by reading reviews, watching Youtube videos and looking all over the internet. I landed on this one for many reasons including the fact that it was powerful and threw a lot of light. I give this light 4 stars for the following reasons. Positives: 1. The turbo is brilliant. WOW. It reaches out a long way and floods the surrounding area. I didn't think anything this small could compete with a big battery powered Maglite but, was I wrong. It is cool. 2. The build quality is great. No complaints at all. 3. The ability to recharge through the standard USB port is great. No buying batteries or removing the battery to plug into the side. Just flip the rubber cover on the side of the light and insert. It made a lot of sense to me not to get the lights with special disc chargers that magnetically attach to the bottom of the light. I can never find Apple Watch chargers or often forget to take them with me. And, they get lost needing to buy new ones. But, I always have blocks and cords in my backpack for phones, speakers etc. This is a big plus. 4. The kit includes extra parts which is terrific. Negatives: Now, to get a little nitpicky: 1. The silver on/off/selector switch is hard to find by feel. It blends in with the contours of the areas around it so you will be searching for it and confusing it with the charging port. Why Thrunite didn't put a raised rubber switch here is a miss. I have to align the pocket clip with the button so I know where it is in the dark by feel alone. 2. The high setting (not turbo) could be bumped up a little. I would sacrifice the battery life to get a better stream on high. Is it worth the $$---absolutely!!!
