  • Meh
Why are these things sent without the bearest of instructions? I can't attach this anywhere on my bike short of the pipe for the removable seat - that is just not doable. This is going back. No complaints about the product itself - just not suitable for my bike.

  • Not really bad for the price but that's a first impression
The media could not be loaded. I hope the attached video is visible and accessible. I just received the item today (May 7 2020). It looks as if it might have been used or at least tried before even though there is no significant signs of wear. It is actually as if it had been refurbished if that is possible. The rack is of a simple design and meant to attach in a simple way to the seat post of a bike. It is not really complicated to attach and yet because of its dimensions and because of the way in which you have to hold the rack and also hold the separate piece that goes around the seat post as well as twist the first screw in, it would ideally require two people to do it . Of course I managed to do it myself. The rack fits my bike nicely enough but as I explain in the video the screws that hold the rack to the horizontal post or pole do not screw into any holes on the horizontal pole itself and the steadiness of the rack on the post relies on how tense the screws are on the surface of the pole. If you are riding your bike the momentum could cause the screws to slowly come undone. You may find yourself frequently checking the tension of the screws . The screws are the kind that need a hex key or hex wrench to twist. I am not sure if the kind of screws that the rack uses can be easily found in a hardware or tool store should you lose one of the screws or need to replace any one of them. One thing, after I attached the rack the seat post of my bike then I found that the package in which the rack came ( a package that consisted of a padded large manila type envelope, no box) I found there were two small thin squares in the package which seemed to be made of perhaps "rubberized foam" and apparently which were to meant to put on the bike's seat post before attaching the rack onto the seat post . This way there is cushioning around the seat post. Or maybe the small squares were "spacers." But the two small squares , which measured about 1 inch by one and three quarters of an inch (the thickness must be like that of 2 pieces of paper), had some kind of sand particles on them. Because of the texture and material of the small squares the particles stuck to the squares. This really made it apparent that the rack probably had been used previously maybe at the beach or on a sandy trail. I actually liked the basic-ness of how the rack is attached. Not a lot of pieces to put together overall and you don't have to attach the rack to different parts of the bike, only the seat post. The rack is rather low-profile and does not stick out much so as to make the bike bulkier. The rack is lightweight for what it is but of course it will make the bike a bit heavier to carry if you have to carry it. The rack is adjustable in length. That is a good feature. Whatever you attach to the rack you probably will have to use bungee cords or rope. The rack is meant for situations in which you need your bike to have at least a small rack to help you carry certain items that would not fit anywhere else on your bike. Depending on how resourceful you are or how desperate you are, you might be able to put a good amount of items on the rack maybe if you use a box or tie a bunch of items a certain way on the rack. The rack ought to hold maybe 15 to 20 pounds ( I cannot be absolutely sure) and it can depend on the dimensions of the items and how they are tied to the rack etc. I would say that this rack should not be more than about $15 but the $20.97 price is not so bad. The rack is not perfect but probably would serve the purpose of helping you carry some items on your bike. Perhaps other costlier and more elaborately designed luggage racks may only cost more and be more complicated to attach but may not work much better or be worth the trouble for carrying small loads. I ultimately am not sure if I will keep this item but it seems it would be good to have this at least in the closet or garage in case you need to put it on your bike. I will update according to my findings about this item. ... show more

  • No reflector mount
This seems like a reasonable bike rack for a kids bike with a couple caveats. First and most important is that there is no place to mount a rear facing reflector or light. Many kids bikes have a read reflector mounted to the seat post. You have to remove that reflector to mount this bike rack so you lose the rear facing reflector with no where on the rack to mount a replacement. I guess you can put reflective tape on the back of the rack or you can drill a hole or two in the rack and mount one but that seems like more trouble and you will lose some space. The other caveat is that if the seat is set low you need to raise it so there are a few inches of bike post exposed to attach this rack to. Maybe not a big problem for many but if you just bought the bike and the child is still small and growing into it there may not be enough space to mount the rack until they get taller and sit higher on the bike. ... show more
