I am a Union Carpenter in NYC. I'm a high-rise concrete carpenter, so I form out all the walls, deck etc. The job site is brutal, Steel rebar everywhere, Dried concrete, and we do LOTS of climbing. I've tried many boots. on average we get about 8-10 months out of a pair of boots and that could vary on weather. These boots definitely meet the comfort standard. Had them since November and they are still very comfortable to put on. In rain they keep my feet dry for the most part, but we work in like waterfalls, so my feet have gotten wet in these, but it was after walking around in 6-Inch-deep puddles. One thing that stands out to me so far is the quality of the leather. Like i said we climb a lot of rebar columns, and that tie wire can do damage to leather boots. Every pair of boots I've had the leather always rips and holes start to appear. Not these, the leather has some deep gouges in it, but it's all still together and has no holes. They are on the pricey side, but I'd say they are worth it. If your tight on money there's definitely some other options out there for cheaper but if you have the money to spend on these boots, I will go with these. ... show more

    • Long break in period is worth it

Upon arrival, these boots looked very stylish, appeared to be well made and best of all, had an American flag stitched into them proving their origin. Starting to wear them however was a different story. First when I laced up the boots, the tongue would crease right on my ankle bone making the boot very uncomfortable. I fixed this by rotating the tongue inwards so only the flat part of the tongue touched my ankle. Secondly, my heel would slip when taking each step. I tried a few different insoles that were both thicker and thinner than those provided. None seemed to fix the problem. I felt like I had to adjust the way I walked to keep my heel in place. I ended up going back to the original insoles because they are good quality with good padding. Then something amazing happened after about two weeks. I stopped thinking about how I was wearing new boots. All of a sudden my foot felt comfortable and when I walked, my heel stayed in place. The break in process was over. Now I have a great pair of boots that conforms to my foot. The wedge sole is a huge improvement over heeled boots for hard surfaces and the non-waterproof will be great for the dry months. These boots are on the costly side, but for a classic USA made boot than looks and feels good, they are worth it. ... show more

I truly don't understand what's going on with the Thorogood organization. I ordered a pair for my husband as a Christmas gift, returned them when they were too big and he said he wanted a pair with black soles. I returned and immediately reordered the ones he wanted. The shipment kept getting pushed back from December 24 to January 15, until I finally canceled the order and reordered them (for $30 more than what I paid... I wonder why they never shipped it.) I FINALLY get the boots today. Wrong size. Wrong color. And I ordered a NEW pair of boots... Since when do new boots have scuffs? Seriously... The quality control is abysmal and my husband literally needs the boots for work tomorrow so he will be wearing the wrong color boots that are too big and used. Waste of almost $300. ... show more

SO SO GOOD! I got this for my fiance and he still has them to this day! The boots he got are used for welding but he likes the appearance and the durability of the boots. There is a great support and the material was very strong.
