  • Excellent Boots
Size: 12 Wide Color: Crazy Horse
I'm an Ironworker and there aren't many trades harder on your boots than what I throw at them. They stand up to welding, dropping stuff on them, kicking sheets of deck, and water proof to your ankle. The water proof lining actually makes for great insulation in the weather if you're moving around. These are the only work books I've ever worn that are comfortable right out of the box. Fit true to size and are a good looking boot as well ... show more

  • ThoroGOOD!!!

My husband swears by these boots. He's a project manager and walks all sorts of terrain for jobsites. He says these are the only boots that have lasted him more than 6 months. We have tried all the name brands, and these are the only ones he will use now. He's 6'1 and 270 lbs so not a small guy. No knee or back pain either. Definitely worth the money! ... show more

  • comfort and proper fit
Size: 12 Color: Crazy Horse
Thorogood boots are my preferred choice. This particular style boot looks great. They do however, take some break in time in order for them to loosen up. On first try they are a bit stiff and the leather tongue is a bit uncomfortable when it gets squeezed tight to your shin just above ankle. After just one day they feel much better. Most comfortable steel toed boot so far! ... show more

  • So far pretty good
Size: 9.5 Color: Studhorse Brown
I purchased the Thorogood Men's Logger Series - 9" Waterproof, Safety Toe Boot. This is my first pair of Thorogood boots. Gave them a try when my previous brand dropped the model of logger I liked and moved production overseas. I've been wearing these for over a year now. They are very comfortable boots, they needed very little break in, they look good, and they are American made. I wear these everyday-all day except Sunday. They are used extensively for hiking, firewood cutting, tree climbing, working around heavy machinery, shovel digging, and just generally anything a ranch/farmhand might do around home and the office in a remote field station. These boots are great, I don't even think about them most of the time they are on my feet. They have worn well, I do regularly treat them with "Huberd’s Shoe Grease" just trying to keep the leather from cracking over the years. My boots typically last well for 2.5 years and then I spend another 6 months or so with holey worn out boots, hoping the shoe grease helps stave off holes in the leather (this is my first time trying shoe grease to help with this issue I've had with other boots). I'll report back when I have fully worn these boots out for a final review. Even the laces have held up longer than a year. Usually the laces that come with my boots wear out before the first year and I end up cutting some paracord to use as laces and those last the rest of the life of my boots. My one nit picky complaint for these boots is that I wish the leather at the heal was thick and stiff. I often use my heal as a tool (clearing brush/branches, bumping metal pins, digging, knocking stuff out of the way, anything, etc.), with my previous boots this wasn't a big deal since they had hard leather protecting my heal, these boots have soft leather at the heal and I've hurt myself a few times, and cursed the soft leather. All said... at this point, I'd buy these again. ... show more

  • Was not made correct

When I bought these boots, I noticed the tongue had a crease in them thinking that eventually it would be gone now that I’ve looked at them. They were made wrong from the factory. One side of the tongue has more leather than the other side so now it has a big crease in them And wearing them that crease rubs on my ankle and hurts whoever inspected did not do their job and for what they cost they should’ve been perfect ... show more

  • Seems cheaply made for an expensive boot
Size: 10.5 Color: Studhorse Brown
I bought these because I couldn’t find an uninsulated version of the Chippewa boots that I wanted for sale anywhere. My initial impressions are lackluster to be honest. I will say the fit and comfort are excellent. However, for a company that touts being American made in a union led facility, I’m disappointed when comparing them to my Vietnamese made Chippewa boots. The eyelets are single grommet stamped into the leather versus double sided grommets, the speed lace hooks appear to be stamped brass with sharp edges also simply stamped into the leather versus being double sided and riveted. I can see the hooks flexing a lot when I lace them up. I’m actually lacing them a bit looser than I normally would for fear of ripping them out as others have complained of. Left and right are equally comfortable, but after standing and looking down, the left upper looks to be cut for someone with a severely over pronated ankle. The edges where it’s laced don’t line up properly. My kids immediately dubbed the right one to be my “dork boot”, because the toe of the sole was so sloppily trimmed in such a way that it looks like it has buck teeth and a severe overbite. Also, the laces don’t go as close to the toe as I’d like, but that’s more a matter of personal preference. They were just delivered last night and honestly I regret the purchase and considered returning them but decided to wear them to work today to see how they fair. While the suede like finish would be gorgeous on the street or in an office environment, I’ve already stepped in mud with them and they’re cosmetically ruined. While that doesn’t bother me, I doubt they can be returned in this condition. Part of the reason I wanted water proof is because I stomp around in mud and muck all day, and I’ve never had a new pair of boots that still looked new by lunch time. My mistake, I should have taken that into consideration. If anything goes wrong with the grommets or speed hooks, thankfully my town still has a cobbler, and I have a sander to correct the right boot’s overbite. After spending over $100 more than the boots of my choice would have cost if I could find them anywhere, I’m quite peeved. I wish I would have continued shopping even more diligently before giving up and getting these. ... show more
