Made in America for starters! Always buy Made In America FIRST! Let me put my Patriotic Boot step out there first and foremost. These are the most supportive protective and solid work boots out there. Take it from a hard working 51 year old dad. Had a lot of shoes and boots and have put them all through the fire. Thorogood quality shows. There's a reason this company has been making rugged long lasting footwear since 1892 I believe that was the year they started. When you're on your feet all day like more than twelve or fourteen hours on rocks and concrete floors these workboots are with you the entire Flippin day! Good ankle support too. Will say when you're talking leather on any boot for the most part it needs to mold to your foot and here I'm mainly talking about the forming the tongue to mold to your shin and top foot. For all you young pups who don't have a clue about real leather workboots and there break in period, you need to understand that the leather tongue has to be formed to fit to your foot this may mean that as your wearing them, you might want to shift the tongue around to get the right feel to your own feet. Some tight lacing at first and use a good oil for your leather boots. Yes. Clean your workboots and condition the leather once in a while a good water proofer like Sofsole mink oil..get a boot brush and a cloth for cleaning and rubbing them down..a cloth with an abrasive and smooth side and "spit shine" at least every few months and these boots will give back. Also, these Thorogood boots can be resoled on down the road most cobblers may charge anywhere from 60$-100$ish but the point is only a good workboot can last a really long time if you take of them. They look good cleaned up and on the town when you're not working and they're so comfortable that you may not want to wear anything else and thats good too. The price is what it is and you get what you pay for most of the time..do your research! Size wise, if you don't truly know your foot size then go to a shie store that sells Thorogood or the brand that you're after and try a pair on. Don't take anybodys word for ordering a half size smaller or larger or any of that nonsense. I wear a size 11 and ordered an 11 and they fit like they're supposed to. My body weight is over 240lbs of lifting my whole life and these boots work with my feet and legs and lower back. They have insoles and if you use an insole, yes, I recommend insoles.     • Happy convert from Red Wing
This is an early review of these boots as I've only been wearing them for work less than a month. I will continue to update as time goes by. I have been working in signal maintenance for a railroad for over ten years so far and I have been wearing Red Wing logger boots during that stretch with each pair costing around $300 per pair, but each pair lasting me over four years of constant beatings that most footwear would not be able to withstand. So in the autumn of 2021 I needed to purchase a new pair of boots, but I was told that Red Wings wouldn't be available for several months and would need to be special ordered. That news left me looking for a more immediate option. I had heard of Thorogood from several coworkers who had them previously and spoke highly of them, so once I found a pair that I liked and thought would do the job, I ordered them. When the boots arrived, I noticed that they were very well constructed and the leather appeared very soft but durable. I began wearing them a couple of hours at a time to break them in but found that they were already comfortable right out of the box. After a couple of weeks, I began wearing them to work on the railroad. Without ever adding any extra insoles, I find the boots to be extremely comfortable all day long and my feet don't hurt a bit at the end of the day. The soles are soft enough that they don't get slick when they get cold or make you twist your ankle while walking on uneven surfaces but seem like they are going to be durable under the harsh conditions of walking on railroad ballast. I like that the boots are American made and that they have a seemingly easy system in place for resoleing and repair once you have registered your purchase with them. So far, with only about a month of wearing them, I would recommend these boots for all of the reasons stated above, but I will give updates on these boots further as I continue to add miles to them to see if that opinion changes. ... show more

These fit true to size. As soon as I unboxed them, I could tell they were the right choice. I tried them on and they felt great immediately. I researched boots extensively and settle on these for a few reasons. I like the moc tops, but had never actually tried a pair because I was not confident that the typical wedge sole and tread would be enough grip for me. I work in excavation and often walk up loose dirt on slopes, on steel tracks, and generally all kinds of uneven, slippery, or loose terrain. The hybrid sole design immediately had my attention. I typically wear a logger style lace up boot for work and cowboy boots outside of work. These felt just right with the heel design and look great. I can tell as far as comfort, for a mostly leather construction,these will be great. Red wing may have better longevity due to the more rigid leather, plus the shank and welt construction, however, I think these will be more pleasing to wear. Ive been meaning to try Thorogood for some time. This is my last pair of mid-level factory made work boots before I try some high end, handmade boots. If these last 2+ years, then im calling thorogood my go to boot brand. 1 star was withheld only because I have not broken them in and only time will tell if they hold up. Thorogood boots are some of the best foot wear you can use for work. The fitting and comfort of the boots have always been true to size everytime we order them and we can feel the quality of the product. They last for months in tough conditions from hot to cold temperatures as well as different terrains. The boots are protective preventing materials from getting in or injuring you. They also look great for going out and will not disappoint you. I do recommend wearing the safety toe as it brings extra protection you can count on without sacrificing comfort. ... show more

STEER CLEAR! Solid pair of boots.. until you encounter a shallow water puddle in your yard. Mine are only just a touch over 4 months old. I’m a commercial electrical superintendent, so the miles on these boots has been spent just on walking around on hard floors of the project I’m running (school remodel.) They look cool, they’re decently comfortable but they most definitely do not have very good insoles for a $300 pair of boots. That’s for starters. Next I’d like to mention this is my third pair I’ve owned of these. I’ve spent a total of around $900 to thorogood’s company and they’ve yet to provide a moc toe boot that can truly withstand at least a year before failure. I’ve given them the benefit of the doubt when I shouldn’t have. If I knew I’d get my money back, I’d immediately demand it and buy a different brand. My foot shouldn’t get soaked in a shallow water puddle in my front yard after wearing 4mo old boots that haven’t seen any rain before. I know they’re not advertised to be waterproof but they also shouldn’t be squishing with every step either. Another complaint is how soft the soles are on the bottom. I literally have a flat spot where there’s no more tread. Same thing that’s happened with the last two pairs too. Nonetheless, thorogood; you lost a customer. These are great boots. Comfortable (after break-in). They fit nice (cursed with wide feet). Very happy with them. You can wear them for all sorts of things, not just for working. With proper treatment they handle snow and water just fine. Keep in mind they aren't insulated. I even used them hiking. The Moc Toe doesn't do motorcycle shifting too well. Works, but the room between the peg and the shifter isn't the best. Depends on the bike. Very happy with them. ... show more
