I've been a working man my entire adult life, and I have to say these are the most comfortable boots I've ever owned. Since I got them I have worked in rock quarries and lumber mills without issue. I've had them for almost two years now, and the soles are surprisingly durable, and the insoles are still super comfortable despite the cover fabric wearing off. Just keep them clean and oiled and they will serve you well regardless of the working conditions. Also, the laces that come with them are AWESOME. Lasted a year and a half in some extreme conditions including mud, rocks, sand, fresh asphalt, etc.

Wearing the Thorogood 1957 straight out of the box, they are quite comfortable for a leather boot. The build quality is outstanding and very high quality. I was surprised with the overall comfort standing and walking for over 12 hours the first day I wore them. The size is a bit odd though. I normally wear 11 men's (45 UK), but their 11 is too long for me. Also, I do not have wide feet and have never worn a wide shoe or boot. These boots I had to get the wide fit as the normal width is way too narrow and squeezed the sides of my feet. I ordered these in a 10.5 Wide and they fit great. If you're considering these, definitely find somewhere you can try them on first or be prepared to return or exchange due to the odd sizing. Overall, I am pleased with the boot. After finding the size that works, they fit fine and are surprisingly comfortable. I'm sure as they break-in they will become even more comfortable. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a high-quality work boot.

UPDATE: They did break in, they are expensive, but the best boots I've ever owed!! UPDATE TO THE UPDATE: Longest lasting best boot I've ever owed. Wish I would have found these years ago!!!! I love these boots, over the last 7 years in the trade, this is the only pair I buy. Never have I once payed over $300 for a pair of used, worn, scuffed up boots being sold as new. See my included pictures. I think I am a bit extra irritated about it because, for whatever reason, it has been damn near impossible to find these in my size right now. After my FOURTH attempt at ordering, receiving the wrong kind, (the non-steel toed version being sold as steel toed), returning, and waiting for the refund to get processed, I was excited to finally get my new pair of boots, until I opened the box....

My husband works for a power company and is in his boots all day. Sometimes, all day and night. He’s in all types of weather but right now it’s 90 degrees outside and rains a lot! He bought a pair of Ariats that were this same style, just their brand and a slightly different sole, and his feet were soaked from sweat all day which ended up causing issues with his feet. Even with using a boot dryer daily. These have been great for him. He says his feet still get hot but nowhere near like they did with the others. And they stay dry when it’s raining. He doesn’t complain of his feet hurting much at all anymore and his feet problems have gone away. He’s been pleased!
