Boots appear to be well made and have held up well so far (I have been wearing them for about a month). They are heck to break in. It took about a week and a half before they finally stopped fighting back and rubbing. I applied some neatsfoot oil about midway through the break in process and it helped out immensely. I work on the railroad, fueling, oiling and operating locomotives. These boots take a beating, including getting splashed with diesel fuel, DEF and oil. I also walk in the rocks constantly. They are comfortable, waterproof and hold up well. I recommend.

These are the best boots I’ve ever owned. Thorogood is super high-quality. I work in the oilfield and these boots are tailor made for nasty land jobs. They are waterproof and warm in the winter.

Wearing the Thorogood 1957 straight out of the box, they are quite comfortable for a leather boot. The build quality is outstanding and very high quality. I was surprised with the overall comfort standing and walking for over 12 hours the first day I wore them. The size is a bit odd though. I normally wear 11 men's (45 UK), but their 11 is too long for me. Also, I do not have wide feet and have never worn a wide shoe or boot. These boots I had to get the wide fit as the normal width is way too narrow and squeezed the sides of my feet. I ordered these in a 10.5 Wide and they fit great. If you're considering these, definitely find somewhere you can try them on first or be prepared to return or exchange due to the odd sizing. Overall, I am pleased with the boot. After finding the size that works, they fit fine and are surprisingly comfortable. I'm sure as they break-in they will become even more comfortable. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a high-quality work boot. ... show more

These are the best quality boots I've ever owed but they kill my ankles breaking in. I hope they will break in better over time? Disappointed After Only 3 Months – Thorogood Boots I wanted to like Thorogood boots, but after only three months of regular use, the sole started ripping apart. For a work boot in this price range, that’s unacceptable. I expected better durability—especially from a brand with such a strong reputation. I’ve had Redwing boots before and never had this issue. My husband works for a power company and is in his boots all day. Sometimes, all day and night. He’s in all types of weather but right now it’s 90 degrees outside and rains a lot! He bought a pair of Ariats that were this same style, just their brand and a slightly different sole, and his feet were soaked from sweat all day which ended up causing issues with his feet. Even with using a boot dryer daily. These have been great for him. He says his feet still get hot but nowhere near like they did with the others. And they stay dry when it’s raining.
