I chew through Boots like crazy with my weight & long hours of standing, walking, crouching. Whatever it is, 6 months and a pair of shoes were in the trash and new ones ordered. These boots however, have earned my respect, price tag is a little steep, however you definitely get what you pay for. Ive beat the crap out of these things and they have no tears, or show any signs of giving up. You do however need to care for them. Needs to be broken in and treated with oil befoee they really fit well.

I boyght these at a local shop but they didnt have wides after realising the first pair I had were going to be too tight I ourchased them in a size up and in 2E wide. They still were rough. I wore them around the house for a week than applied some mink oil over the weekend and they fit like a glove now. They are loose in the heel like noted in other reviews you just have to make sure their tight. The bad reviews are from people who likley never worked in the industry. You need to break these bad boys in. The link oil really helped with the odd preasures I got around my ankles. Once they were treated they fealt allot nicer around the ankle. When I walk in them the way the sole is made your foot almost rolls on the ground as you walk as alowed to coming down to a flat foot position. It keeps your feet in a confrtible position as you stride. Very high quality boots I am very pleased with them. ... show more

Too narraow

I love the quality of these boots. However, I'm not sure how they're made, the right boot is tighter than the left boot. And believe me, I understand that some people have different sized feet, but I've never had that issue in my life. And the reason I won't give them 5 stars is because they're too tight. I had to buy leather stretching spray to get them to be more comfortable. Other than that, they seem great. I work along the railroad track, and the soles hold up fantastically to the ballast, which typically destroys soles. I like that it's a pretty firm bottom, I climb poles and while I wouldn't want to climb in these all day I was able to throw on hooks climb up to do something quick and climb back down and it didn't hurt. The leather is durable. The look is great. I was able to fit in my arch-supporting inserts with no problem. They were no tighter than with the regular inserts. So overall, I like these boots. I would probably buy them again if they last me a couple years, because I'm tired of boots that last a year and then you have to throw them away. Keep in mind, however, you might have to do something about how tight they are. On their website, they say buy a bigger size, but when you're walking around on uneven terrain, that's not great. You don't want your feet sliding back and forth inside your boots. It creates blisters. So it's better to just have a boot that fits properly. ... show more

Ive been wearing the safety toe moc toe edge sole 6" for a while which has been great for the last several jobs with a lot of concrete walking. I wasn't getting enough traction on this new mostly dirt path job so I switched to these with a heel and heavier tread. I'm really liking them so far, however the break in time had been a little longer that what I'm used to. I'm working 12 hour days 6 days a week now and I'm getting a little blistering on the inside of my ankle on what's now day 4, but I feel like they've just about stretched to form to my foot now. Day 1 was a little rough, but this is a firmer leather. Also the style of these boot in person looks a lot nicer. If they're clean and conditioned, I'm sure you could wear these on a night out. Horrible fit

The quality of the shoe is great but beware, they are tight. Their “wide” is slightly more narrow than similar brands “normal” width. The leather will break in like other boots, but it’s impossible to change the size of the steel cap at the toe, and that is the part that is not increased for their wide fit. ... show more

Best boots money can buy. Ive never bought the 1957s until now because of the price but it was worth it. My biggest complaint with Throrgood is usually the soles wearing out within the first 6 months, but these soles are lasting longer than any other pair of Thorogood soles I've had and I walk atleast 5-10 miles a day on concrete, gravel, asphalt, mud, etc. Also, 100 percent waterproof. Lastly, the tongue of the boot is instulated which provides a nice padding for the ankle. I will say, at first, they are a bit snug(due to the insulation i think) but give it a few days and you will break them in and be very happy. I promise The boots on the left side of the picture are my normal pair of thorogoods which you can see the soles are worn down on the sides and the boots on the right are the 1957s. Both worn for the same amount of time and the 1957s havent even started to break down. ... show more

Comfortable, good looking boots

Boots are very comfortable and sharp looking. Definitely need extra long socks with them as the material will cause some blisters if they rub on your leg. Yet to see how durable they are, I’m a heavy equipment technician so I’m pretty hard on my boots but they seem to be fairly rugged so far for the first 2 weeks of having them. These boots are not made as well as they say they are when described in the advertisement. The quality after wearing them only for 6 months is NOT a good value. I paid almost $300 for these boots for my husband on Father's Day, for he works as a master electrician. They described these boots as the best in quality, durability, price for its craftsmanship. None of this was true. These boots should have lasted at least 18 months or more. I would Not recommend them for this price to last 6 months before starting to fall apart. I'm so disappointed and disillusioned over the companie's description. I expected the best as described. ... show more
