It is definitely oily, but it's supposed to be. I have 2 brand new cutting boards, so I needed to get them seasoned and oiled. I spread it with a paper towel, but still had to let it dry on a piece of big plastic. It can be messy, but the wood needs to soak up that oil, so just bite the bullet and go for it. I received the package in a timely manner which was properly sealed. When I opened the box however I found that it was full of ants. Hundreds of ants. The only item in the box was a sealed bottle of mineral oil. This had to have been a prank. Looking in my mailbox I didn’t see any ants or other infestations that would account for this.
