I bought this to bring with me on long delivery routes. I'm often out for 12-14 hours a day, sometimes more. This thermos has saved me so much money not having to buy meals on the road. While heating up my meals I fill the thermos with hot water to pre-heat it and as long as the food is piping hot when it goes into the containers, they are still very hot 6-8 hours later and still warm after 10-12 hours. I was so happy with it I bought a second one for really long days. I put them in a cooler to insulate them further and extend the hot time by putting a microwavable heat pack from a casserole carrier in there and then they are hot the entire day! ... show more

1st day I set it up at 630am. I boiled water and let it set in the stainless thermos covered for 10 minutes. While that was warming I boiled my shrimp gumbo and filled one of the containers, in the other I filled it with hot rice and chicken sausage. I dumped the water out and placed my containers in the thermos, gumbo 1st then rice. 12 rolled around and it was time to eat. I grabbed the thermos and opened it up, to my surprise the containers were will warm but that's where it stopped.. The food was barely warm, more room temperature. I am glad for the warm lunch but had high hopes. Next day.... Tried again, same routine, but this morning I left the containers behind, just placing my gumbo and rice in the thermos. Lunch time rolled around and it was hot!! Steamy even. Just know, foods will keep cooking, my rice was mush, my shrimp were the same... but it was hot! For the third day I had clam chowder, nice and hot! I wouldn't use the containers. They are flimsy and the covers I wouldn't really trust. Overall I am happy. My plan for another meal is brauts. Just leave the boiling water in the container and throw a couple of wieners in there!! I would recommend this thermos to anh contractor, I keep this thing on my passenger seat all day till lunch. It's cold outside, 15 to 20 degrees and this thing still keeps warm. ... show more

Great size, it fit inside my Playmate cooler. Openings are wide enough to easily fill and clean. The soup stayed hot throughout 6 1/2 hours of driving to and from a location in the way back of my SUV in a Playmate cooler which was open for 3 1/2 hours at 11 degrees out. We didn't have the soup while we were there, but it wa still hot when I got home. The next time that I use it, I'll cut a strip of parchment paper and slide it under each container to make it easier for my arthritic hands to pull out the containers. They just don't pinch like they used to. This will be a staple of my winter road trips! ... show more
