I have two children, one could care less if the food is warm. He will eat it. But the other isn't as amenable. Cafeteria lunch does not really cut it for my kids. We tried that for a year in middle school and their review...Never again! I have tried the most expensive brands to the most affordable ones based on reviews I have read. Actually I almost never purchase anything without reading a few independent reviews (also sponsored ones). I have collected plenty of supposedly insulated containers that fell flat after a couple of hours even after pre-heating the jar. This middle of the road priced food container from Thermos was the only one that did the job. Even the little sister "funtainer", also from Thermos, was much better than the other brands I had used. My younger child swears by this funtainer. It has actually lasted us at least 5 years so far. Now in middle school and high school, they don't mind the print but they do mind the small portion capacity. Hence, the 16 oz Thermos investment. After arrival, they were washed and used the next day. The verdict from the younger one, the wonton soup was still HOT. The older one said, "Mommy, my soup was steaming!" Need I say more? I do believe I found a winner. It does keep the same temperature for 7 to 9 hours, as one review claimed. Just for reference, I pack their wonton soup at 6:30 am. Lunch is at noon. I did pre-heat the container with boiled water as I always do for all the insulated metal containers I've used in the past including the funtainer. I did use the funtainer for the wontons, and the 16 oz Thermos for the soup to prevent the wontons from getting soggy. Also, the container is leak proof. Another feature I look for in food jars. I read some complains about the included folding spoon. My kids like the spoon and I did ask if they use it because I do pack them a set of regular utensils. They have not experienced it folding back. I think this is a potential problem for lefties and the way they scoop their food. If you are a lefty, the little catch on the spoon will not prevent the spoon from folding back.

I had to replace my first one because it was stolen. I use this a lot. I take it on road trips, hiking and to work for dinner. I put soup, stir fry, all kinds of hot foods in it. It stays nice and hot as long as I put boiling water in it first and I let it sit before, I place my hot food in it. Anything that helps me to save money and eat healthier is a huge help. I originally had the red and now have the stainless steel.

My daughter is a picky eater. They do not like the cafeteria food at their school, and enjoy their lunch cooked. This amazing product allows for her to enjoy warm soup, ramen, chili, steamed vegetables, and more. I warm the food up in the morning while I'm brewing my daily pot. I place the hot food in the thermos. Kid takes thermos to school in a backpack. Kid eats hot food at lunch time. It's the perfect size, she loves the spoon, and it never opens up and it is easy to clean. It's such a good product, I'll never have to buy another one. It's so good, it makes a great gift that will last a lifetime.

It looks like it was designed for a Pixar movie. I really like the red color. Works well for hot soup, which is all I have used it for. I've thrown it into a backpack and banged it around. It held up without a blemish. The large mouth gives me easy access to my soup. I don't use the top for a bowl, which is what it is intended for. The spoon works well, and it cleans up with no problems. I'm very happy with it, and would recommend it without reservation.

I haven't tried it on hot items yet, but I did fill it with ice cream and the ice cream was still semi frozen about an hour later... I suspect it holds/preserves the integrity of liquid/semi liquid foods a little better than other foods. You can't fit a whole lot in it at once either. It scratches easily. Otherwise, it serves its purpose quite well. Just don't freeze or microwave it.

My husband gets up at 3am for work, puts hot soup in his thermos and by lunchtime his soup is still piping hot. That's 9-10 hours! When he brings the thermos home in the late afternoon it's contents are still pleasantly warm. I am so impressed by this product.
